At 6'4", 220 lbs, and 28 yrs old, a player like would be just what the doctor ordered to C any of the top 3 lines. I remember he was force to be reckoned when NJ won the Cup a few years back.
He apparently is pretty unhappy in Dallas, where Modano and Turgeon centre the top 2 scoring lines, but he does have the reputation of being somewhat of a malcontent. Dallas has a big payroll which they are trying to trim, so I'm sure they would be looking for some good youth in return (i.e Markov, Hainsey, Hossa, etc.).
Seems like there could be a good trade there....

Dallas doesn't really need defence right now so we may be able to deal with them without giving up the 3 kids on the blueline.
It would have to be a forward or two. Maybe even a Zednik.
I would look into it...the guy has great ability and size and coming to a place like Montreal may be the kick in the a$$ he needs.

Well he is a good player but he does have his spats with the coaching staff.....hmmm....Get him! If that's the way to get rid of MT for sure If we could give Chow and or Dougie that would be fine with me. They love their old Habs in Dallas so it might be a good fit for a trade, But I think they'll take a long look at Arnott before they consider trading him. 1 game does not show a players potential. On that note I don't think we should talk trade for a month or so to see if our boys can get out of this slump.

I checked on the Dallas page on the HF board, and the biggest organizational weakness mentioned is "offensive defensemen". Makes sense, I guess, Zubov is 32 and he's really the only offensive Dman on that team.
So any deal with Dallas would involve Markov or Hainsey. We have nothing else that would interest them. Dallas also has a veteran team and a $60MM payroll, and probably wouldn't mind adding some youth.
Giving up Hainsey would be tough, but Markov is off to a good start and has good trade value right now. I would trade Markov plus maybe one of Hossa, Balej, Plekanec, etc. for Arnott.

Didn't they draft that Martin Vagner kid from Hull?
I thought he was an offensive d-man..

A big part of our problem is that Gilmour, Czerk, Audette and Perreault are not getting much of anything done. You can go and get Arnott by giving up Markov and another prospect but you've still got to deal with the fat on the roster somehow or another. It looks like a real problem to me.
If there are three players I'd like to see on their way to the airport they're Audette, Perreault and Gilmour. I have no problem with Quintal for the next year and a bit, and not with Dykhuis either, but to see those guys cruising around and not hitting anybody and not making smart plays is beyond intolerable.
