Pedneault said it on RDS about 30 minutes to go
Looks like the only team left in the Hackett sweepstakes is San Jose for now...maybe Boston or Pittsburgh(if they realise Hedberg has to be replaced to make a run)...

Many may disagree but if I make any deal its with a western club, with the east being so tight its much to large a gamble to give any team a significant piece that could come back to haunt you.The deal would have to be quite lopsided for me to even consider it Naive maybe but Hackett could put a couple teams over the hump. From what I've been reading and hearing, the 'Nucks are fine with Cloutier. The problem in Vancouver is money and not much depth. That means they have little to offer in exchange that would interest Savard except draft picks and the Habs would have to pay a good portion of the remaining salary.

Yeah, there hasn't been any criticism of Cloutier. He's had his good moments, but hasn't stolen anything for the Canucks. Am watching them play San Jose right and will let you know if he stinks.
As soon as I say Cloutier hasn't stolen anything, he plays like a star in the 1st period and keeps Vancouver in the game, down just 1-0. But all is not lost, folks....start looking over the Sharks line-up (Hannan?) because their goaltending is awful. Toskala started, let in 2 goals of the weak variety, Kiprusoff came in and has given up another 3. It's 5-1 Canucks and the boos are raining down in San Jose. This is either very good news for Nabakov, or for Hackett and the Habs.

I am glad you brought that up 17.
Toskala and Kiprusoff made Andre Racicot look like a Vezina trophy winner last night
Why they haven't signed Nabokov yet is beyond me. Let's hope they don't ;D

hadley.nonstopsports.com/In my posting a few hours back... with the news the Blues had signed Martin Rucinsky... I mentioned the next move was to upgrade the goalie situation. The Blues are moving faster than I expected... my sources have informed me that the 'Note are bringing in Tom Barasso for a physical within 48 hours with the intention of signing the veteran goalie. If Barasso passes his physical and signs as expected it further amplifies the inevitable departure of Fred Brathwaite. In other news, the Blues attempt to acquire defenseman Kyle McLaren is in a holding pattern for the time being, the team has interest however the deal isn't close to finalization.
