It's not a very good source, that's for sure...but i would make that trade any day of the week.
Hannan's a big (6'2" 220), young (23) defenceman who plays a very steady game and has actually outplayed Brad Stuart on more than one occasion over the last few years. I'd absolutely love to see the Habs land this kid and i'd gladly hand over Ward and Hackett.
But isn't Brad Stuart still a holdout? I'm not convinced the Sharks would deal one of their top 4 d-men when they've already got another top 4 d-man sitting out in a contract dispute.
This sounds way too good to be true, IMO...

Yes Stuart is holding out. But he's injured so it doesn't matter...
The Sharks D looks like this
Rathje-Ragnarsson Hannan-Marchment Heins-Jilsson
I'd gladdly give them Dykhuis if they want a D in return.

Why are we always the team giving up 2 players in every deal, are they gonna throw in a draft pick! IMO Hack' is worth it straight up though I know he is a UFA and that may have something to do with it. It would be much better if they took Traverse lol. HFTO

This sounds way too good to be true, IMO... Same to me. Hackett would be a short-term plug for them, they won't give up serious assets like Hannan just to save the season, IMO. They'll try guys like Dafoe first.... the league has plenty of goalies to give chances to who can easily work out. Just last night Boston got a win with a 28 year old rookie in his first game in the NHL, Tim Thomas - a guy I remember hearing about as a hot prospect who then disappeared from the radar screen. Plenty of others like him to give chances to before giving up a Hannan... If it meant giving up a 2nd and a spare part though, maybe SJ would bite.

SJ has started a guy named Vesa Toskala the last 2 games...he made 36 saves last night but gave up a softie on the game winner...they have one win...they could be getting desperate.

The Blues will be getting their goalies back at some point so they are not that desperate...SJ on the other hand if Nabby doesn't sign...

They've always liked that guy... they've had 3 good goalies for a while now.... And if they are desperate, I think they'll go for spending money only, on Dafoe, instead of money and assets for Hackett.

Yes they have liked him for awhile...but if Nabokov doesn't come back, they have 2 unproven guys in goal... Right now, the team that doesn't get Dafoe will probably in the running for Hack

i hope Scott hannan has matured as a person
I live in Surrey, (Hannan's hometown)
Hannan has got himself into trouble here because he made rascist remarks in a large indo canadian community such as Surrey.
He has been beaten on by indo canadian gorups but this is going all the way back even before grade 11.
This guy was one of those trouble makers...... I don't like him as a person but I do like hannan as a player
I just hope that he's smartened up as a person for his own sake

Why is everyone giving up Hackett in trade? He may be the second best/most valuable player on the team. I want a H E double hockeysticks of a lot more for my second best player. If Theodore falters or gets seriously injured, how much would we give up to get him back? How much has he helped us the last two games and who on the team has been more valuable the last two games.

Why are we always the team giving up 2 players in every deal, are they gonna throw in a draft pick! HFTO The Habs need to make the 2 for 1 type of deals. There are too many veterans on the roster now to make room for Hossa and Hainsey. Besides, if you want quality you have to give something up. As good as Hack is, he's a UFA at the end of the season. That's as good a reason as any for a team to NOT offer much up. Also, as was mentioned, Ward isn't with the team and doesn't really have a future in Montreal anyway. Frankly, I'd give up Hackett AND Dykhuis for Hannan. It's hard enough to find a spot for Hainsey now. If they bring in Hannan, that drops him down the depth chart even more. Then you have Souray coming back and Komisarek around the corner.
