According to Spectors, NYI may put him on waivers because of his 1.6mil salary. I think he'd be useful for us, plays LW and C. 6'1" 224lbs. Not afraid to drop the gloves, I'd like to see a Wiemer - Koivu - Zednik line.
Defensively responsible, can chip in with a key goal every once in a while. Parks himself in front of the net, and his team mates love him because he's tough as nails. According to the forecaster.

I like him, he'd be an upgrade over Dackell and Sundstrom on the checking line for sure. Grab Wiemer, than wave Dackell/Sundstrom.

He's paid a little more than Dackell, but is a huge upgrade from what I can gather. I haven't seen him play too much, but if he can play defensive + tough + can chip in a goal + drops the gloves, he's like a Kilger that plays a consistent physical game and isn't afraid to fight.
PICK HIM UP!!!
Does anyone know what the negatives are to his game?
PS I think it was a rumour that he WOULD be placed on waivers, so I don't think it's official yet is it?

We could do a Sundstrom/Wiemer swap ? They wouldn't take Dackell because they wouldn't want the salary but since Sunny's salary is almost all covered by the Nucks it could be an option...

RDS is now reporting that he has been asked to leave the team, and not to come to practise. Supposedly Dallas is interested.
Another interesting point in the article, they say that Mark Parrish and Dave Scatchard may be next. Scatchard is another guy that I think could help us.

Scatchard is on injured reserve right now.

Wiemer would be a solid addition. His bio on TSN says that he is "a born leader." Also his age (27) and size (6'1", 225lbs) would be a very welcome addition.
Although I wouldn't oppose putting him with Juneau and Sunny/Dacks, IMO putting out a Crash Line of Wiemer-Kilger-Ward would be more beneficial.
Parrish would also be a great pickup. He isn't that big, but he plays a fiesty game with lots of energy.
Habs have a lot of players who could be considered waiver bait, so let's hope atleast one of these moves become possible.

Definently like Wiemer
parrish, and scatchard are definently people who would look good in our jerseys too
They are upgrades on sundstrom, dackell, audette, etc.
They are bigger, tougher, and don't mind mixing it up, i would much rather watch players like that give it thier all and lose, then watch what we have no do nothing and lose

Pierre McGuire was saying on the Team 990 that Wiemer "can be difficult in the dressing room."
"Natural born leader" can sometimes really mean "aggravating, in-your-face and disruptive."
As always, one has to ask, why is he on waivers?

As always, one has to ask, why is he on waivers? Look's that there is 3 reasons the first 2 being Peca and Yashin that don't get along with him and #3 =$$$$ the forecaster on him GOING INTO CAMP: Wiemer will again play a defensive role at left wing for the Islanders in 2003-04. He's a solid leader for the Isles. ASSETS: Has good size, excellent strength, a deceptive shot and adequate quickness for a big man. Plays with a chip on his shoulder on most nights. Is a born leader. FLAWS: Hasn't shown much of a scoring touch in the pro game, as opposed to his stellar junior career. Takes bad penalties from time to time. CAREER POTENTIAL: Checking-line forward In the past whe took care of the 4rth line he is a real 3rd line so let's move up Bulis in Audette place?
