The Thrashers selected Shannon in the expansion draft after the Buffalo Sabres left him unprotected. He was then traded to Calgary in a four-player deal in February.

That was a few years ago so this must be a mistake.

The website really has Nov 13 2003 on it. But Shannon is listed on TSN as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. If it is false, sorry about that. I sometimes go on google news and just type "montreal canadiens" to retrieve recent articles about the Habs (or trade rumors printed in north american newspapes). This one appeared less than 30 minutes ago.

The article states Shannon has 537 games played to that point.

I checked hockeydb, he played 544 games in his career. Seven for us in 2000-01. So yes, it's an old article.

Don't know the cause of this, why would it come back up? A Mod better close this thread before I get sued for causing heart attacks or triggering a wave of depressions and suicides among habsrus posters.

I don't think it "came back up", I think perhaps it never went away. Most news services archive their articles after a while so that they don't get indexed by Google and other search engines. This website probably never archived the article, and Google picked it up.

But I'm talking about Google News here where you can sort out the articles by date. This article hasn't been picked up by google news since 2001 and now poof!
