Not a rumor, just the product of my imagination...
Two teams are struggling because of their goaltenders... Dallas and Edmonton. Turco has save % of 0.888 and Salo a pathetic 0.866...
Dallas could afford Theodore easily... Could Modano be involved or Morrow (poward forward) + a first round pick?
Edmonton could only afford Garon... Comrie for Garon? Is it enough for a 25 yrs old goalie, former top prospect, now tagged as a future good NHL no 1 goalie?
Kiprusoff just went for for a second round pick to Calgary, carrying with him a save % under .900 in the NHL...
Belfour is also having a pathetic start but I can't see us dealing with the Leafs... Aebisher is doing ok, probably no panic in Lacroix' office right now...

I doubt that Dallas would take Theo, after the year Turco had they probably hope it's just the hangover from missing (part of ) training camp. Also, I don't think you'll see Dallas deal Modano, he, in my oppinion is the heart of that hockey team.

I don't think Dallas has anyone we want in the "young stud", category. Plus almost everyone there is earning too much for our pocketbook.
