We all set through recent years as Montreal management sought quick fix solutions by trading away our young prospects and draft picks for the castaways of other teams. We see how that turned out. Now that we finally have some good young players and others waiting in the wings I am worried when I see "rumours" about trades involving such players as Ryder and Hossa to name a couple. Are we to return to the days when Montreal was jokingly referred to as a farm team for the NHL? IMO most teams that are thinking of trading with Montreal are looking for something for nothing. Surely no one expects Gainey to build an Ottawa type team so soon. We need to build on our strengths and get rid of the dead weight. Considering next years draft looks so strong we should think more about getting rid of some players that are overpaid and underplayed and look for draft picks in exchange. Give the young bulls a chance to show their stuff.
AND if we do start trading players like Perrault, etc then we should throw in some of that deadwood. Yeah, I know that if Montreal doesn't want them who else would. go for draft picks or young players
ps Comrie? do we need more small players up front?
