"It's a real big blow for the team and we're hoping that he heals quickly and can come back in time for the playoffs," said Bulldogs' interim head coach Geoff Ward. "This would be a big blow to any player but to a guy who is as competitive as Grats it's even moreso. I don't say that just because of the year he's having, but because he loves to play so much." Ward said Gratton is such a team leader that they want him back, involved with the team, as soon as possible, even if he can't play. - waymoresports.hamiltonspectator.com/

Big blow for Jason Ward, in my opinion.
I doubt very much Ward will get called up now. With Gratton gone, Ward is now the unquestioned team leader (and team captain?), and they are going to need him much more in Hamilton than they would in Montreal. Gotta build that winning atmosphere for the prospects and all.
Ward will be counted on to mentor and lead by example, so that guys like Plekanec, Hossa (if and when he returns), Balej, Ryder, Komisarek etc. etc. don't get to slack or lost in the AHL. Isn't Ward now their oldest player? Aside from Bouillon?

if and when Hossa returns(to Hamilton)?
Habs have basically said he is staying up here for the rest of the season.
