Tonight Chris Higgins had 3 goals and 1 assist, as Yale beat another Hab prospect Ryan Glenn's team (St. Lawerence 7-2) No points for Glenn, but Chris had a big night scoring his 4 pts all in a row. He's now got 15 goals on the season, which is 1 more then he had all of last year, I believe. He now has 27 pts on the year, 3 shy of last years totals.
I got to watch Matt Shasby's Sea Wolves, but for some reason Matt did not play. Nothing from the announcers as to why he didn't dress. That team sucks badly. They have one win, and I wouldn't expect to many more. The team they played tonight had 2 wins on the season, and were beating up on AAU. I can see why Shasby is struggling. There team average is 1.5 goals scored a game. Ouch.
So instead of watching Shasby, I am watching Uath play Worchester. M-A-Thinel was called up (after 2 days of being back in the ECHL) and I must say he's had a solid game so far. No points, but he has made some very good plays. He had a big hit, made a good play on a backcheck, and made a real nice pass to Ott who should have scored on a shaky blues goalie (Rudluksky sp?) Eric Landry got a goal on the PP and was on the ice for 2 of the 3 goals Utah has scored. He is having a solid game as well, he's just back from a shoulder injury.

Nice... is this considered great for college standards? Make it 19 games, 16 goals, 13 assists for 29 points, a 1.53 ppg average. As he got one goal last night. Chris is 2nd on his team in goals, 3rd in points, but 1st in ppg average. He is having a very solid season, but not great. Great is UMinn's Thomas Vanek (6'2 207) who is a freshman with 22 goals and 40 pts. But he does play for a very good team which certainly helps his numbers somewhat. Look at fellow sophmore and WJC teamate Eric Nystrom, who has played more games then Higgins, yet has half the points. (15 pts for Nystrom, who was a higher pick, 9th overall maybe ?? not sure)

Also I found out the Matt Shasby has a broken foot, but I dont' know how long he could be out for. It's a shame, cause he's a senior and there's not many games left in the season, so he could be done in the NCAA. And I also read that he was suspended last month for 3 games cause of a book scholarship scandal that was going on at AAU. There were 18 players from different sports involved, and the suspensions ranged from 3 to 7 games for hockey players. The article was on AAU's home page.

Without putting any effort into reasearching the draft yet (as it's my favorite time of year, so once we get closer to it- 4 1/2 months away, I'll read up a lot more. I just try to watch the games now and not let anything change my view) Anyway, just off the top of my head, I could see Savard going for Vanek, as I think he will be in our range of picks possibly. He's big and knows his way around the net, but like I said, it's only 2 games (both against CC one win one loss one Vanek goal)
