Good, fast skating game with a little bit of hitting. The opposition was feisty but unfortunately, the goaltender was Junior material.
Donald Audette:
He played a miserable perimeter game. No hitting, no edginess, no more effort then absolute minimum required. He had four scoring chances from the slot of which he put one in the net. In fact, after that goal he was happy enough to get into some peoples faces but that only lasted one shift. I saw no evidence whatsoever that his arm is bothering him. None. He nonchalantly floated two of his scoring chances and fired two of them with velocity. There is no question whatsoever that he knows where to position himself and what he needs to do, he just does not care to make any effort.
One example of his “effort” was when the puck was coming around the boards he was within ten feet of the board and could of stopped it and kept it in. He took one step towards it, saw that there were two defenseman and decided to skate away and go back to the bench. He could of just as easily taken a step or two and fired it back, deep into their zone. What else can I say?
Tomas Plekanek:
I like this kids game. He is feistier then the last time I saw him and he is carrying Audette on his back. Skates well, has very good vision, plays both ends of the game. He was responsible for Audettes goal by making a perfect pass to the slot on a backhand. I said that he reminded me of Koivu but he was not as quick and feisty. I stand corrected, if he develops little more quickness, I see him in our lineup next year. I think he has the best overall game in Hamilton. Most improved player I have seen this year.
Sylvain Blouin:
When I was driving back home I kept thinking of a way to describe him and that is the only thing I could come up with is this. Do you guys remember when you played street hockey and you picked the tall guy who was a complete oaf? What the h*ll was Savard thinking when he gave a 7th rounder for him? He is not even worth a leaking water bottle. He was playing right defense and I swear the only reason he was there was because they ran out of bodies to put there.
Bill Lindsay:
The guy may not have speed or a canon of a shot but he sure brings his lunch pail and works his butt off. There is nothing I can add in terms of “development” because at this stage he is what he is. All I can say is that he is a hard working AHLer.
Jason Ward:
It’s time to bring the kid up. End of story. He is not going to get faster because of his “saddle hump” skating and his arsenal of shots is decent but will never kill anyone. The kid plays a two way game, he works hard and he has a nose for the net. He will not be a liability and in fact, he may surprise us. He reminds me of Andreychuck. He can work on his mobility and quickness and of course he could also be a bit stronger particularly when you make a living in front of the net. Bring him up and send McKay to the glue factory.
Micheal Ryder:
Big kid with a nose for the net. He is a Ward clone with a little more speed and edginess. Not very good vision but work in both ends of the ring. Needs more seasoning but at this point it looks like he could develop into an NHLer.
Joseph Balej:
The kid has so much speed that he beat the defensman a couple of times even when he gave them two or three step lead. The only problem was that when he got the puck, he just took a low percentage shot at the net instead of ragging the puck and waiting for his team mates to catch up. Major league speed with minor league vision. He has improved from the last time I saw him in the sense that he now knows where his end of the ring is. He also found out that he is not made out of clay and he wont break if he gets involved physically. A pretty good improvement over the last time I saw him but still a long way to go.
Mike Komisarek:
Eating and drinking like an NHLer. Dammit!
Ron Hainsey:
Looking to make out with the nurses.
HabsAddict:
Looking to make out with that good looking blonde a few seats over. Thinks of wife, a.k.a. Bobbit Twin.
