Howdy howdy howdy. I got time to kill so i figured what the heck, this hasn't been discussed yet. Part of being "all grown up" means stress relief. I have a few different ideas on this subject. For example, when I'm angry, I lift weights. When I am happy, I partake in the act of consumption with friends. When I am feeling overloaded, I relax with a movie or try to find the nearest hot tub. Whats the one constant with these activities? Why music of course.
Here is a list of CD's that take a regular rotation thru my stereo and what I consider to be the greatest form of stress relief.
AC/DC Who Made Who. Not all of the best AC/DC songs, but a big chunk of them. Metallica The Black album. Ozzy Osbourne Tribute. He is actually more coherent when he sings. Dixie Chicks. Wide Open Spaces. I'm not really a full time head banger. Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction. Oh the memories, I think...can't really remember. Steve Earle. The Essential Steve Earle. Why yes, my neck IS a little red. Eminem. The Eminem Show. Evereyone needs a good laugh. Metallica S&M. My first real exposure to symphony music....sort of... George Thorogood and the Destroyers. The Baddest of... how much whiskey did he actually have to consume to get his voice to sound that way. Matchbox Twenty. Yourself or Someone Like You. One of the very few good CD's to come out of the 90's. Clint Black. Greatest Hits. Most 90's pop turned my stomach...all the way to country. The Cult. Pure Cult...Or was that Guns'n' Roses? Everythings so fuzzy... The Beetles. White album. John is STILL and always will be missed. Our Lady Peace. Spiritual Machines, and Gravity. At last bands are starting to write their own music again. Creativity has returned after the lost decade. Martina McBride. Evolution. Such a little lady with such a HUGE voice. Sweet. The best of Sweet. Classic. A truly under rated band.
C'mon guys and ladies. What's in your stereo right now. What songs make you turn up the radio and say" Yeah. Great tune"?

Well, in no particular order...
Bad Company, 10 from 6: Can't beat Bad Company for pure, stuffed-leather-pants, arena rock. Pure schlock at its best.
Blue Rodeo, Just like a Vacation: Nice, easy listening country rock, from one of my favorite bands. Great in concert too.
Kenny Rogers, Best of: Speaking of country...
U2, anything before that Zooropa crap: What were they thinking?
Northern Pikes, Snow in June: Very underated and unappreciated Canadian band.
AC/DC, Back in Black: Possible the best hard rock album of all time.
Rolling Stones, Hot Rocks: Hit after hit after hit.
The Eagles, Best of, Vol 1 and 2: Actually saw a grown man cry at an Eagles concert...
The London Choirboys: Could have been, should have been, so much more...

You have some darn good ones there BC. I had to opportunity to see the Northern Pikes at a outdoor festival held at Cypress Hills provincial park many moons ago and they blew all the other bands away. They are also from Saskatoon so that makes them even better in my eyes. My ex lent out my London Choir Boys Bit Of What You Fancy CD and I have never been able to replace it. As for Canadian bands. another of my all time favorites is Streetheart.

Man, it's been so long since I bought CD's on a regular basis. The internet is a wonderful thing.
Agree with Vinna, Yourself or Someone Like You is a great disc. Still one that I put in my CD player often.
The last few CD's I have bought... Mike Plume Band - Fools for the Radio. Group from Edmonton, country rock, excellent stuff. Captain Tractor - The Hoserista Box Set. Another group from Edmonton. Part celtic rock, part comedy, total party band. This 6 disc set is cool because each of the five band members created their own disc from old demos, live recordings, unreleased cuts and lots of new stuff. A 6th compilation disc of all new studio recordings. If you know the Saskatchewan Pirate song, you know this band. Easily my favorite group.

Great topic dude. As some of you know (Vinna), I am a bit of a yokel, and am a country music fan. I am kind of opposite of my brother, in that my CD compilation is mainly country, with just a little bit of that other stuff mixed in. Here is what seems to find a home in my stereo more often than the rest of the collection:
-Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. I LOVE this disc, even though it is nearly 10 years old. I like the movie almost as much as the soundtrack.
-George Strait-Latest Greatest Straightest Hits. The man is THE icon of country music. I refuse to download his music...I will always pay for the latest release.
-Shania Twain-The Woman In Me. Shania when she was still country. Not that I dislike her newer stuff or anything, it's just not really country.
-Collective Soul-Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid-Great disc front to back. 'nuff said.
-David Lee Murphy-Out With A Bang- GREAT redneck drinkin' songs cover to cover.
-Garth Brooks-His first 3 discs (Garth Brooks, No Fences, and Roping The Wind)- These are probably my three most played albums. I pretty much wore the tapes out before I got a CD player. All Garth's stuff after these, although good, are not as great. He tried to revolutionize country music, and though successful, some of the songs on the next bunch of albums should've been thrown on the scrap heap
-The Greatest Hits of: Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Clint Black, Dwight Yoakam, Tracy Byrd, Steve Earle, Blackhawk, Brooks & Dunn, Restless Heart, John Anderson, etc.
Some of my other favorites are: The Waterboy Soundtrack, Black Dog Soundtrack, Keith Urban, Shania Twain UP (the green disc), The Big Shiny Tunes Series (especially 5&6), Alanis Morrisette- Jagged Little Pill.
Like Roggy said, the internet is a wonderful thing. I can't begin to count the money I have saved. I have easily paid for my computer, with the CD's I didn't have to buy. Some of my favorite ahem* free* ahem songs are: Incubus- Drive, Spin Doctors- Two Princes, Foo Fighters- Learn To Fly (one of my favorites), The Calling- Wherever You Will Go, pretty much anything by the Goo Goo Dolls, especially Black Balloon, Iris, and Here Is Gone (all great tunes), Puddle Of Mud- Blurry (one of the deadliest songs all time)etc, etc.

You guys just have NO TASTE. NONE. Sheesh..............
1. Perry Como. One of the greatest from a true master. Did you know that he held his butt cheeks tight during every love song?
2. Yodeling Greatest Hits. If a man can't yodel he is not a man. In fact, woman find yodeling very attractive. I highly recommend it to all bachelors who have limited successes with woman. You hear that BC and PTH?
3. Buddhist Hymns Sung in Overtones. Only a real music lover can understand this one. Way to sophisticated for the average listener but with every successful dose, you reach a higher plain of consciousness.
4. Sounds of The Pacific Surf. It’s sooooo sooooothing. High tide is best.
5. Mating calls of Humpback Whales. Tell me if there is any red blooded male who does not get excited when they hear this? One listen and you are ready to do it like a whale. You don’t know what that is? Ask HabWest.
6. Wind Chimes and the Musical Wonders (3 set edition). This can not help but leave a wonderful ringing in your ears. A truly engaging album that is magnificent in it’s symmetry and balance.
7. Sound And Fury of the African Plains. It brings you oh so close to nature. Is there anything better then listening to the death yelping of a gazelle? Or the stomach sounds of elephants? I think not.
8. Sounds of Gas. One of the best albums to ever come out of Mexico. I was deeply disappointed that they did not have any excerpts from our Members of the Senate. They are truly master of the eloquent noises.
9. New York Live. This is a true wonder of an album. You hear all kinds of things ands in fact, it was used as evidence in a murder and three rapes. Is there a better recommendation then that?
10. Flushings. This is a work of art. It took 10 man an entire year to put this together. It has the sounds from the finest crappers in the WORLD. Including our very own 2 gallon wonders from the Members of Parliament. They KNOW how to flush.
Any one of this albums will enrich your lives and make you better man. Listen to all of them and you will be as brilliantly “balanced” as me. That can’t be such a bad thing, can it?

You hear that BC and PTH? I dunno about BC, but I'm very happy as a bachelor these days.... no complaints here about the single life.... As to music, I go for Jean-Michel Jarre when I can. Agree with Roggy though that not having to buy CDs is a wonderful thing. Long live the internet ! (and file-sharing on WinMX ! )

Amen, brother!
I don't buy too much music now-a-days either. It seems I keep recycling the old stuff as the newer music doesn't do much for me.
Alice in Chains, Pantera, Slayer, Beatles, Zeppelin, Clapton and even some Johnny Cash are getting play in my home PC.
Someone metioned the London Choirboys, did they ever make a follow up for "A Bit of What You Fancy?" Or did the lead singer just destroy his vocal chords? Its seven O'clock, time for a party......

Well for me I listen to all types of music, and I love it. Usually I'll select blues guys like SRV, Jonny Lang, etc, also love hip-hop, especially NAS, Nellie, Snoop Dogg. There is however one cd that I have just about worn out," Born A Lion" by Danko Jones, man that sucka rocks. I was fortunate enough to catch Danko live, it was absolute bliss for me. Also, the kids bought me the " Back In The Us " DVD by Paul McCartney, simply awesome. Now here is one that no one on here will dig, its the Simon Fraser University pipe band, but being of Scottish descent, and having a daughter as a piper its a natural. Can you imagine HA doing the Highland Fling, hehe ;D
