I found a little program anout a year ago that seems to have disappeared from the net, but it's been a miracle for me.
Thankfully, I kept the original set up program and have uploaded to my webspace for you.
Go to www3.telus.net/tanigami and download "puksetup1453.exe"
The program is called PopUp Killer. You used to be able to download a list of pop-ups that it would close automatically, but since the program isn't available anymore, neither is that feature. Fortunately you can still add URL's to a list that the program will close immediately upon opening.
After the program is installed, when you run it, it'll bring up a small window which displays the URL and title of every Internet Explorer window that it open. If you double-click on either the URL or title of a window you don't want to open anymore, the program will add that exact url to your blacklist and that address will never display again (unless you take it off the blacklist).
The only drawback to this program is that it allows the popup to open fully before it'll close it. If the popups are slowing down your computer signifigantly, then this program may not be all that helpful, but I know it sure has helped me.
Now, since this is an executable program, I'm only offering this program to help people out. I did not write the program, do not know the authors, I have not altered this file in any way, and make no guarantees, explicitly or implied as to the program's origins, functions or compatibilty with the end users computer. In other words, if this program crashes your machine, do not blame me. The program works for me and several other computers I use, but I cannot make any statements for yours.
