Tim Montgomery of the USA has established a new standard for the men's 100 m. He ran the distance in 9.78 in Paris, which was .01 faster than fellow countryman, Maurice Greene's, standard. www.tsn.ca/ctvnews/sportsstory.asp?story_id=4288Too bad about Canada's sprint program. We were on top of the world in '96. Our men's 4 X 100 m relay team were at that point the only team in history to defeat the USA in that event. We also had the world's fastest human in Donovan Bailey. I don't know who our top sprinters are any more. I hear Burny Surin is still around, but it's going to take quite a while bringing our sprinting program back up. Cheers.
