CBC SPORTS ONLINE - "Victoria's Diane Cummins won a silver medal in the women's 1,000 metres at the Van Damme Memorial track meet in Brussels on Friday." I've always taken an interest in athletics and find it quite entertaining actually. The article also points out that Maurice Greene finished 6th in his 100m race. It was his third loss in two weeks. His team mate, Tim Montgomery, won the race in 9.91 second. I followed a bit of the Commonwealth Games not too long ago. I guess Canadian sprinting has taken a dive in recent years. Burny Surin is next in line to retire. I hope they give him a better send off than Donavan Bailey. I thought Bailey's send off wasn't well done at all. There should have been more for our former Olympic and World Champion sprinter. But, unfortunately athletics really isn't all that big in North America, and Canada in particular. It's little wonder that athletes love to compete in Europe. Its a major spectator sport over there. Cheers. cbc.ca/pcgi-bin/templates/sportsView.cgi?/news/2002/08/31/Sports/cummins020830
