They generate discussion on a slow day. They're also somewhat of a way for lurkers to express their opinion without having to debate or post.
I got no problem with them but too much is like not enough.

I just want polls to be conducted with some neutrality.... weighted answers to try and push people to think a certain way don't mean much.
A poll only works if there are a limited set of options, but typically the options vary widely going through all shades of grey; no black and white in hockey.

Yeah.... so long as the polls are objective and the answers mutually exclusive and exhaustive, I think they're fine.
