Apparently, the Canadiens owner is quite content with owning just one financially struggling team. Go figure.
HAMILTON (CP) - Montreal Canadiens owner George Gillett Jr. has no intention of buying the financially crippled Hamilton Tiger-Cats, according to one of his business partners.
There have been reports that Gillett might be interested in purchasing the CFL club.
But Ron Foxcroft, who is a member of the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs ownership group along with Gillett, says the Colorado millionaire isn't interested in purchasing the Ticats.
Ticats racked up $2.2M debt in '03?
"George wants to reinforce his commitment to the Bulldogs and the Hamilton hockey community," Foxcroft said. "But he is not buying the Tiger-Cats. He's consumed with other vital concerns."
The league assumed control of the Tiger-Cats last weekend after co-owners David Macdonald and George Grant failed to meet payroll.
As is the case with the insolvent Toronto Argonauts, a receiver, Richter & Partners, will control the Tiger-Cats until the league can find a new buyer.

Wouldn't Molson's guarantee his loan. He could sell the naming rights to Ivor Wynn Viagra Stadium to pay for the rest of the purchase. How about the Toronto Argonaut Tidy Bowl.
