Hey,
We're two guys going to TORONTO saturday night for a birthday party...
We figured being the CRAZY and LOYAL Hab fans for the last 21 years of our 21 year lives, we're going to fly in and catch the game too (God Bless Air Canada $69 Airfaire).
Here's my question for you guys...as I don't know much of TORONTO geography.
We're running a tight schedule, leaving Montreal on the 5PM flight to Pearson (due to work reasons) and we're landing @ 6:16PM.
Assuming no delays because it is a short national flight... What are our chances of making it on time to the game? (We're scoring the tickets locally off a hookup)
Take into consideration it is the LAFFS home opener? Extra pre-game stuff...
Should we take a cab straight from the airport to the ACC? or should we rent a car in advance (preferable) so we can sleep in it and drive ourselves back to the airport @ 8am the next morning?
If anyone can help us it would be great, we'll make sure to back our guys and represent our city for all the die-hard fans at home and in the building.
If this is the wrong area to post this i apologize in advance, but we got to set up everything tomorrow and need some input!

You won't make it.
Not to sound pessimistic or anything, but that's squeezing it really, really tight. If you touch down in Pearson at 6:19 that means 6:25 at the earliest that you get off the plane. Assuming you have no luggage besides carry on, you can skip the arrivals section and head straight out - by this time it's 6:30 at the earliest. You then have to hail a cab (you don't have time to rent a car and sign all the papers, you'll miss the start for sure) - sometimes that's really quick, other times you might have to give up an take a limo (cost's 5 bucks more than a taxi into town). So we'll say five minutes for that. It's now 6:35.
Now, the good news is the game is on a Saturday. That way you stand a snowballs chance in hell of speeding down the 401 to the ACC. That'll take anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes in good traffic conditions (which you should have until you start to get close to the ACC). Once the traffic and pedestrians start getting thick your best bet is to hoof it - the ACC is fairly easy to find on game nights.
I'd say you'll be in the building by 7:10 and in your seat by 7:15, supposing you don't stop for grub or booze along the way. I'm also making the assumption that you already have tickets - if you don't, you can almost forget about getting in - Habs/Leafs tickets are tough to get the night of.
Sorry to be so depressing. Hope it works out for you.
