What is the inspiration for your chosen nickname? Mine, BLNY, comes from "BetterLuckNextYear", which was my handle on the original Sportsnet.ca forum. It was in reference to the 2002 playoff run.

Mine was just "Habsfan" on another board (which had fans from all teams but I was the only Habs fan) for quite a long time, but every now and then someone else would drop in and soon there was another "Habsfan" and it got quite annoying - the other board members would happily call the new guy "Habsfan" and I started getting ticked off, so I took something more personnal "Paul The Habsfan" (I tried "The Real Habsfan" but that irritated some people) and that became PTH.

Mine is my actual nickname in real life. In highschool, the basketball and volleyball teams were trying to put nicknames on everyone, a friend of mine said my name bass-ackwards. He put the first sound of my last name with the last sound of my first name and then the first sound of my first name with the last sound of my last name (if that makes sense??) My last name begins with SK, my first name ends in ILLY. It just sounded neat to everybody and it stuck. The real nickname would be the two names put together, but then everyone would know my real name ... so I shortened it.

I like beautiful bodies of water and seek them out for their contemplative qualities.
Previously I resided fully in the Id.

my handle when i first started posting on Internet forums was el wally. when i joined another board, it had already been taken (well, sort of, there was a poster named Wally) so I took the name of my favourite character from a BBC comedy show Red Dwarf that had, at the time, been running on our national TV. since then, I've been using both handles but when I joined HabsRus I chose Rimmer because on the picture I use as an avatar you can see the 'H' on his forehead.

I used to use Loup, but soon found out that it sounded lame. Like those people wearing wolves on a sweater. I didn't like the link.
So I changed it to something phonetically similar. Goo sounded ok. Call it a tribute to Sonic Youth, altough it took me quite some time to appreciate that album. It's not a tribute. I don't do goo, either.

That was his nickname.

I thought it was a reference either to the Goo Goo Dolls or a reference to slime. One of the nicest town names in Newfoundland is Lanse au Loup - "Village of the Wolf".

Well, mine has evolved over time. I had to shorten it when CO shortened his field. But, it stems from having been spoiled by the Habs Cups of the seventies.
I knew every player, every stat, every league for that matter. When I joined the service I lost a time to do a lot of the things I once had time for. That included hockey.
Once Mrs. Dis and I went to Germany in '86. So, I was around for the Habs victory that year. However, we used to get hockey scores two days late. I'd hear about the results on armed forces radio, but could only get the box scores in the Stars and Stripes, two days later.
Also, if we wanted to listen or watch a North American sporting event, we usually had to get up around 3 or 4 AM. I actually woke up early one morning so I could listen to the '89 Calgary win in the Forum. Man, did I take a ribbing a work ... for weeks.
When we got back to Canada in '91, I fortunately didn't have to wait long for another Cup. The Habs had a very competative team and '93 Cup was only two years later. However, that was a seven-year wait.
And now, at eleven-years and counting, I'm back to being "disgruntled" again. However, I'm not as "disgruntled" as the handle suggests.
Cheers.

1. A mostly-anglo with a French last name living out west for the greater portion of my youth/young adult years; no one could pronounce my last name and it was better than “Hey, Frenchie” (which I really wasn’t). 2. Add to that my first name is indeed Frank.
Go figure.

You should just adopt a symbol.

..you see I've been through the desert on a poster with no name, ..it felt good to be out oooof the rain Originally had the handle of Pete on the net but than got the same problem PTH had as there was more and more Petes out there for Pete's sake. So I changed to Doc Holliday because I liked Val Kilmer's way of playing that famous gunslinger in Tombstone.

It didn't win any Academy Awards, Doc, but it ranks as one of my all-time fave westerns. The character Val Kilmer developed made the movie IMHO.
Cheers.

The scene in the bar where Doc mocks Ringo by twirling is cup is classic.

I didn't knew it was his nickname, altough I was a big fan of him. I even passed Halloween at his mansion! It stemmed from the announcer at the Colisee. He emphasized the "Gou" part of Goulet. It stuck with the fans, and they began chanting "Gooooo".

Allright, I see what you mean. Mind you, I was quite young when I went to see the Nordiques and Goulet at the Colisée.

At 28, I'd have been awfully young to have seen him in his prime. I never got to Montreal to see a game until I was about 21. I missed out on the Forum. I did get to see a Voyageurs game in the very early 80s. All I remember is they played Adirondack (former Detroit farm team). I don't remember any of the players. ;D
