I had the opportunity on saturday night to see The Hip in concert in Saskatoon. They absolutley blew me away. I HIGHLY recomend if you have the opportunity to see them while on their cross Canada tour. DO IT. I know they were a little dissapointing at the Grey Cup halftime show, but man they kicked it in Saskatoon the night before. This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. No frills or gimmics, just a straight down you throat rock show.

A divergent view: I've seen them twice (when you pay for a Bluesfest pass you go to all of the concerts, blues or not); didn't enjoy them at all. Buy the CD if you like the Hip -- their concerts were boring; no personality. Disappointing, because I thought I liked them (past tense now -- older stuff fine; newer stuff mediocre). But that's just me.

I never saw them live, but like Franco is saying, when you hear their CDs you appreciate their music.
I've never seen the live, but those I've talked to say they're awsome. However, I saw them on the Grey Cup and I really didn't like them all that much.
That aside, people ask me what my favourite band is I have to say The Hip. I have more of their CDs than any other band.
Going back to the 70's/early 80's I would say The Allan Parsons Project to the same question. I had more tapes or albums than any other band.
Cheers.

I had several of their albums as well. I still remember the original four members of the band, - Jan Akkerman,
- Thijs van Leer,
- Pierre van der Linden, and
- Bert Ruiter
I also remember Akkerman releasing a solo album but can't remember how it did. Cheers.

Ah, Dis, we're just oo old . . . so old that eveything old is new again. Half the songs that I am forced to endure (hey, I'm only the Dad -- I don't get to chose the setting on the radio dial) bad remakes of classic tunes.
