It's one thing to live to the age of 84 and it's entirely another thing to have done it right. Pierre Burton personafied the word "Canadiana." www.cbc.ca/story/arts/national/2004/11/30/Arts/PierreBerton041130.htmlI remember buying his book, "Flames Across the Border," when I first moved to Kingston. At a second-year private's pay, I couldn't really afford a large hard-covered text like that, but being an amateur history buff, I bought it nonetheless. I've just pulled it off the bookshelf and here is a comment from the back cover of the book. "If history could be taught in the schools the way Berton writes about it, there wouldn't be a more popular subject on the curriculum"The Globe and MailAmen!

He was a great writer, a wonderful personality, excellent actor, narrator, and Canadian. Most of all, he lived life to the fullest, travelled, explored and actually did the things the rest of us dream about.
