ZETA-JONES AND DOUGLAS RETREAT TO CANADA Hollywood couple CATHERINE ZETA-JONES and MICHAEL DOUGLAS are have invested a staggering sum on a rural site in Quebec, Canada - which they plan to turn into a luxurious ski retreat. The actors-turned-property moguls already have luxury homes in New York City, Los Angeles, Wales, Bermuda and the Spanish island of Majorca, but they have since fallen in love with an idyllic rural residence near ski-ing mecca Mont Tremblant. Estate agent MICHAEL CLARK says, "Last autumn, they chartered a helicopter to scout for a location for their northern pied-a-terre. "They zeroed in on Lac Desmarais, which once belonged to a Franciscan order of monks and has remained relatively untouched." 11/8/2005 13:49 - tinyurl.com/ae5ky

Sorry to burst the bubble. You didn't burst it, you expanded it—perhaps unnecessarily. Why?

I was in a foul mood. After three weeks of not having to think, I have to return to the normal world. And my dog died so I didn't have anything handy to kick. [Deep breath]. Sorry. I'll return my normal congenial self eventually. Better?

Sheesh! This is what you end up in the fourth year with when you give her $20M for four years up front.

This is what you end up in the fourth year with when you give her $20M for four years up front. Do I detect a note of bitterness? Not at all. All contracts should be for one year and renegotiable as the situation warrants. You want your talent to produce and do well. You don't want to lock them in to long term bad contracts that either unfairly favor you or them. Set them free and let them fly back. Make it worth their while to return year after year. Did Zeta-Jones and Douglas purchase their retreat from Duddy Kravitz?

Just two wives and the current one is on the 19th one year contract. Up for renewal soon and very likely to be resigned on terms agreeable to both parties. Hope she doesn't read HabsRus.

The only option I was given was long term . . . verrrrrrry long term! otoh . . . A lady woke up during the night and saw that her husband was not in the bed beside her. She searched around the house looking for him and found him sitting at the kitchen table staring forlornly into a cup of coffee. He was deep in thought. She saw him wipe a tear from his eye. "What's the matter dear? Why are you down here at this time of night?" she asked. "Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating and you were only 16?" he asked. "Yes I do." she replied. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?" "Yes I remember." "Do you remember your father when he shoved that shotgun in my face and said, "Either you marry my daughter or spend twenty years in jail"?" "Yes I do", she replied. He wiped another tear from his cheek and said, " You know . . . I would have gotten out today."

Wouldn't it have been the father who went to jail?
