Michaud's team BC will play game 6 Sunday. If they win they go on to play Hull for the Q championship. So far in 10 games, he's 7-3 2.68 gaa .903 save % Not great numbers but he's got the most important part, wins. He does have a very good defense in front of him, from the looks of it. Hopefully he can get his team a big win tomorrow, as going to the Q championship would be great for him, as this should be his final year in the QMJHL.

I've only seen Michaud play in the WJC, so excuse me if I say something from ignorance, but I've not been impressed with his play at all. His notoriety emerged from a very short stint with the Habs on their West coast swing a couple of years ago. Youngest player ever to play goal in unpteen years. Something like that. He has never taken his team far, despite having some pretty good talent in front of him. His stats are never stellar, though I feel it's easier to look more impressive on a poor team. (yes, I said that). The save % stat is often better for goalies on poor teams. Must be a factor of the number of shots they face. In any case, I was never comfortable with Team Canada's chances with Michaud in goal at the WJC and obviously the coaches thought the same because he wasn't invited back. My own opinion is that he'll toil in the ECHL, and I would be surprised if he made the Dogs next year.

Well I wonder if Savard made the mistake of signing Michaud instead of Adam Russo who has put up good numbers every year. (on a very good team though) He's a UFA and could be had cheap. As for Michaud, I'm not a fan of his, but he has been a decent goalie and even being invited to play for Team Canada says some good things about him. He didn't have a good season, but a strong playoff drive would help change that. This is the kiss of death for him, so expect him to lose tomorrow. A lot depends on Tarasov. If I'm Savard I try hard to get Tarasov to come back over. He and Fichaud would be a strong combo. I would listen to the Citadelles games on the radio (when they were on ) and Tarasov did some impressive games. I think Tarasov brings more depth in case of injury. If Theo and Garon get hurt, I'd rather here that Tarsov is in nets then Michaud. Actually, Fichaud played very well this, as he had his best AHL year I think. (to lazy to look it up) Also if Puurula comes over, (which would be great ) Michaud could be sent to the ECHL. I'd bring Tarasov over 1st, cause he's a lot older and Puurula has had only 1 season as a starter and could benefit from another year in the Finnish Elite League to see if he can do it again. But I would really like to see a Tarasov Puurula duo. No knock on Theo, but if he's shaky or gets hurt things would be better off with that duo then Fichaud Michaud. (I think Theo will be much sharper next year, so having Tarasov /or Puurula is good for depth, but not a major issue just insurance)

That's the right strategy. Tarasov first, if possible...giving more deveopment time for Puurula in Finland, as my gut feeling is he's our best hope for goal post-Theo. BTW, thanks for the consistent info on our prospects. I don't have the time to dig it up and I don't see near enough juniour games. Tks Montreal.

Living here in NS has afforded me access to this series on local cable tv. Michaud has been solid as a rock throughout. His style is in the classic Q goalie mold, butterfly supreme. At this stage in his career he looks almost as good as Theo, Luongo, etal. He's a keeper (pardon the pun) for sure.

Well to me the great part about the internet is that different people can contribute different things to give insight into prospects that we might not get info on. As for Puurula, I talk with some guys on the Finland board at HF and they have some very good things to say about Puurula. He's still got somethings to work on, but I to think he could be our future for post Theo. Garon has really shown me something this year, after I had lost my faith in him, but we'll see what he does over the next couple of years. Actually I made a mistake, tonight is game 6, not 7. If BC wins they go on, if not they live for another day. It's in Halifax tonight at 6 pm I think.

Tarasov is beginning to worry me. He's been plagued by injury the last two seasons, and this year slid backward in his play by all accounts. I hope he can bounce back, but doubt is creeping into my mind. Besides, one of the reasons he returned to Russia was that his wife was extremely unhappy and homesick over here.

I'm not sure, but I think Tarasov has only had 1 season of injury. He may have missed some games here and there this season, (I don't know) but nothing like the year before. The prior 2 years he was very healthy as he won the RSL's top goalie. This year he didn't play very well, and was used more as a backup from what I understand. Although he was named to the Russian National Senior Team, but as a backup where he didn't play at all. If Savard can't get him to come over this summer, I would say we might never see him. I've already given up on seeing Buturlin, Vertala, Mikkola, Staal, Anger, Sidyakin, Sidulov, Krunchinn, and maybe Jarventie. I think he might come back over, as I know he's supposed to but we'll see when camp rolls around.
