Mrs Dis and I watched, "Walk the Line" last night, which told the life story of Johnny Cash. Excellent movie. Didn't think Joacqin Pheonix could sell it to tell you the truth, but he did.
Also, according to IMDB.com both Pheonix and Reese Whitherspoon took singing lessons and sang their own parts. They also learned how to play their own instruments as well.
Very good flick. And while I won't be running out to buy Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits" anytime soon, I got a new appreciation for his music and what inspired it.
Good flick.
Cheers.

Interesting debunk of "Folsom Prison Blues" as well.
My only complaint: the small strays from the facts, such as the song he interrupted to propose to June Carter. A small thing, I know, but still . . .

I look forward to catching it on digital, but isn't it true that Joacqin Phoenix can really pull off a role. I don't know how they do it, but they do it. MOst "drama" on TV e.g CSI etc, i find unwatchably stylized and bores me to death.

A small thing, I know, but still . . . You are so right to criticize a falsehood in a movie that sells itself on being a rendering of Cash's life. Moviemakers devote too much energy to selling movies. What was, was.

"If I Were A Carpenter" . . . much more romantic (though I'm not sure that asking a pwerson to marry you in front of a couple of thousand people in a venue in Hamilton qualifies for romance).
