The $67 Million Pants
Plaintiff Roy Pearson, a judge in Washington, D.C., says in court papers that he's been through the ringer over a lost pair of prized pants he wanted to wear on his first day on the bench.
He says in court papers that he has endured "mental suffering, inconvenience and discomfort."
He says he was unable to wear that favorite suit on his first day of work.
He's suing for 10 years of weekend car rentals so he can transport his dry cleaning to another store.
....
Defending themselves against the suit -- for two years running -- are Korean immigrants Jin and Soo Chung and their son, who own Custom Cleaners and two other dry cleaning shops in the Fort Lincoln section of Washington, D.C.
The ABC News Law & Justice Unit has calculated that for $67 million Pearson could buy 84,115 new pairs of pants at the $800 value he placed on the missing trousers in court documents. If you stacked those pants up, they would be taller than eight Mount Everests. If you laid them side by side, they would stretch for 48 miles.
....
First, Pearson demanded $1,150 for a new suit. Lawyers were hired, legal wrangling ensued and eventually the Chungs offered Pearson $3,000 in compensation.
No dice.
Then they offered him $4,600.
No dice.
Finally, they offered $12,000 for the missing gray trousers with the red and blue stripes.
Pearson said no.
....
According to court papers, here's how Pearson calculates the damages and legal fees:
He believes he is entitled to $1,500 for each violation, each day during which the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" sign and another sign promising "Same Day Service" was up in the store -- more than 1,200 days.
And he's multiplying each violation by three because he's suing Jin and Soo Chung and their son.
He also wants $500,000 in emotional damages and $542, 500 in legal fees, even though he is representing himself in court.
He wants $15,000 for 10 years' worth of weekend car rentals as well. The Full Article

He is an idiot and should have his Bar License revoked for blatant stupidity and "actions detrimental or unbecoming of a person in the profession".

I actually think this should be considered as a form of abuse and he should be jailed and made to pay their legal costs as well as having to reimburse the court for the time he wasted.

So . . . will he only get 3.35M because it's only half a suit?
What a waste of the court's time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a judge wear a robe and sit behind a huge bench? No one would see his jacket, let alone his pants. Now, if the cleaners had destroyed the knot in his favorite tie, I could understand....... This is just too much. Like the NYC millionaire dentist, Dr. Lawrence Rosenthal, who's suing the estate of Cory Lidle for $7 million after Lidle's plane crashed into his apartment building... 13 floors below Dr. Rosenthal's apartment. Didn't he have insurance that would cover damages...you know, like everybody else? Donald Trump's Dentist Sues Lidle's Estate For $7 MillionDr. Rosenthal Describes What He DoesHe an aesthetic dentist with a Who's Who of clients. One of his quotes from the article: it is predictable that dentistry’s primary goal in the future will be to enhance smiles.I'm sure his lawsuit has enhanced the smiles of the Lidle family. Then again, maybe he needs the money. This dentist has quite a history as illustrated in this paragraph from BadDentist.com. At the very least, he's quite familiar with litigation. "Celebrity" dentist Dr. Larry Rosenthal has been sued at least five times for malpractice. Dr. Rosenthal has had his professional license suspended after he admitted to illegally purchasing and distributing hundreds of grams of cocaine and many other illegal drugs. Dr. Rosenthal got caught lying about all of this under oath, thereby committing perjury, a felony punishable by five years imprisonment. Dr. Rosenthal has been sued by a competitor for stealing client records. Right now, Dr. Rosenthal is being sued by his own associate dentist. In the filings of that case, Dr. Rosenthal's associate claims that Dr. Rosenthal is both a liar and a criminal. Additionally, a receptionist where Dr. Rosenthal used to work claims under oath that Dr. Rosenthal sexually harassed her and other co-workers. Dr. Rosenthal has also lied to the press many times in order to promote himself. Additionally, Dr. Rosenthal has now admitted that providing a list of patients who traded sex for free dental work would violate doctor-patient confidentiality.

Quick story....
About thirty years ago, I was meeting my wife downtown, near the Montreal General. As I was backing up to a parking space, a guy cuts me off and takes the space. I get out, ask him what the hell is he doing, he tells me he is a doctor, pulls out Montreal General ID and tells me he is RUSHING to emergency surgery. We are five blocks away from the General and I KNOW that doctors have their own parking at the hospital. Anyway, I give him the benefit of the doubt and walk away. Then he heads the OPPOSITE direction straight for a restaurant. Before he makes the restaurant door, he is face down, licking nicely browned, Montreal spring slush.
What set me off was that he abused the respect and privliges one accords to Doctors, especially for emergency situations. The same has to happen to this POS who calls himself a judge. He should be fired and disbared for abusing the respect one accords to the judges. Not only will it teach him a lesson, not only will it set an example to other, it will make us pee-ons believe that their is justice and fairness in our systems.

HA....little did that doctor know that he actually would be rushing to emergency surgery...HIS.
Did you really knock him down?
I would have waited about two minutes...then gone into the restaurant to see if he had been seated.
Then I would have gone outside and punctured all of his tires.
30 years ago....no pagers....no cell phones. That bugger wasn't even on call.

As Craig Ferguson said (paraphrasing), "Suing for $67M over a lost pair of pants? I could maybe see that if my genitals were in them at the time, but even then, they're good, but they aren't worth $67M."

I didn't really hurt him and took care not too. The intent was to bruise his ego and kick his arrogance in the nuts. Four flat tires are a forgettable insurance claim......a face full (and clothes) of the finest Montreal slush should have been a long term reminder...... My wife is in the medical field and I have the UTMOST respect for doctors, as all society has, BUT, sometimes they abuse that respect for their own convenience. My current doctor and I have reached an understanding. 10 years ago, I was sitting in his office for TWO hours while he went out to have lunch. A gentle reminder that my time is a hundred times more crucial to me then his to him sorted the problem. From then on, no more then ten, twenty minutes. Do you guys realize that doctors staff overbook AND book ahead by an hour or more? They intentionally line up the pee-ons for an hour or MORE ahead of time so the doctors time and BILLINGS can be used at THEIR most efficient. If a doctor sees a 40 patients, they just spent 50-60 hours of waiting time for his 7 hours of work.
