Hope Solo, the #1 keeper for the U.S. women's scocer team, was benched for the World Cup semi-finals vs. Brazil because coach Greg Ryan thought 36-year-old Briana Scurry's 12-0 lifetime record against Brazil was too good to ignore, even though Solo got them that far. Brazil won 4-0.
Solo has called out her coach by saying that what happened in 2004 and earlier vs. Brazil shouldn't have mattered. She also slammed Scurry by saying that she would have made those saves. That's pretty bold.
I can understand Solo's frustration....but to go public with those comments.
On one hand, the U.S. didn't score. Was Solo planning on getting them to a penalty kick situation?
On the other hand, perhaps Ryan's decision played in the team's mind and they were tenuous before they took the field, further demoralized after the first Brazil goal.

I didn't know that Hans and Leah had a daughter??!! Is this in Episode 7?? ;D When they win they are all smiles and sportsmanlike (the announcers say so ), but when they are losing they call it "competitive fire". If you can't be a good sport while losing, I really don't care what you do when you win .... you see them do it in every sport.
