After years of near-extinction, the whacky Rhino party is back

MONTREAL -- Canada's Rhinoceros Party, the political beast devoted to bringing a smile to the Canadian body politic, says it's on the road back from extinction.The party that once promised to repeal the law of gravity and keep none of its promises plans to run a candidate in the federal by-election in Montreal's Outremont riding next month.

I grew up in Montreal & I am sure I can remember some elctions ( early 70s I think) where the Rhinos finished ahead of the PCs.

And now it looks as though they'd finish ahead of the Liberals.

In Outremont, candidate François Gourd tallied 145 votes.
In Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot, candidate Christian Willie Vanasse tallied 384.

Not bad for a party that actually admits that they won't keep any of their campaign promises (and if they keep [/i]this[/i] one then they have keep their promise not to keep their promises).
