First time I've seen that story, Dis. Thanks.... A colleague of mine here at work takes holidays so he can train for triathlons. He's in the early-50's and a very slight man but is in phenominal shape. He first put me onto Team Hoyt and they are an inspiration to many, many people around the globe. What I found very enlightening is how easily we tend to tag people with disabilities. His son might have cerebral palsy but his mind is just as active as anyone's. There's a lot of inspirational stories out there. I think we just tend to take them for granted. Cheers.

Yes, and when you think of the vast #s of people who WERE institutionalized back in the day for such afflictions....what a floundering, frustrating, imprisoning existence.....I can't imagine it.

I sent that story a few months back to a pal who was training for his 3rd Ironman (he's 55). He said it really helped him gut out some longer training rides just thinking about them.
