George Mitchell's report/list will be revealed at 2:00 pm press conference today. The word is: Roger Clemens IS on it....and it's not going to be a good day for MLB in general. Now What?

Science and medicine have made tremendous technological advances. Some medicinal steroid based drugs can help an athlete recover from an injury or illness. If Koivu's cancer can be controlled with some newly discovered drug and some of it's components are on the IOC, MLB or Tour de France list of prohibited drugs, should Saku be prevented from taking it under the direction of his or the teams doctor. In the future there will be new drugs and treatments. Some less detectable than others. I'm not advocating unfair advantage, but I forsee lawyers and scientific experts having a field day. We can be sure that they will be motivated to protect their clients interest and not the integrity of the sport.

Now What?I was listening to "The Jungle" with Jim Rome on my way home from work earlier today. I guess Clemens/steroid revelation is dominating the sports waves. This guy has a lot to lose. He's right up there with Barry Bonds. Possibly the most dominant post-war pitcher we've seen so far. I don't feel sorry for these guys one bit. But, we might also have to question some of the owners as well. Some knew very well that the guys they were trading for were on the roids. However, by accepting this some of these owners only cared about the home runs or the strikeouts. Give us the fans, give us the revenues. Some of these guys are as much to blame here too. Cheers.

My good friend and I were having a discussion a few years ago ..... he hates , err hated, Chuck Knoblach. I flippantly one day commented that his "throwing" problems (anyone who followed Knoblach's career knows what I am talking about) were due to steroids. He didn't know his own strength anymore. We all had a good laugh.
Then yesterday I stared down the list of named players .... Knoblach, Ankiel, Rocker, Segui ... and bells went off. All these players had problems late in their careers (well Ankiel's is revived as an outfielder now) throwing the ball. Coincidence?
