Had this sent to me earlier today by a buddy. I know we have a zipperhead (armoured corps) on the board and I'm an ex Jimmy (Communications Branch) and ex Herby (artillerymen 1971). My old unit is 30th Field Artillery. Its the second-oldest unit in Canada though I can't find anything online to attest to that. It's actually pretty addictive. Try the Non-line-of-site SP artillery when you have the time. Have fun.

Wholly!!!! Well done "Herb".
It is addictive indeed, HA. I was on it for about an hour today. Top score, level 15, 171,000 points.
Maybe we'll compare notes after a few others try it.
Good mindless entertainment me thinks.
Cheers.

Just a few things that seemed to work for me.
* I always start out at 68 degrees elevation if there is a target on the extreme bottom right of the screen. I found 68 degrees and 100 percent velocity will hit that target. Gets a bit trickier if the target is elevated but it's easier to compensate.
* Once you hit the farthest target sometimes all it takes is an incline of 2 degrees in elevation depending where the remaining targets are placed. I've hit screens 4 for 4, 5 for 6, stuff like that. But, there's a lot of luck in this as well.
* If your first round barely misses a target adjust your velocity up or down slightly. You can even adjust to hit the target dead-centre once you get good at it.
* Helicopters and missile silos appear in the later screens. I think the helos start around the 11th screen and only do the "Splash Over" ... "Splash Out" routine (up to see where the round landed and back down behind a barrier; trees, buildings; in this case rock faces). Aim for their landing areas and there's a good chance they'll fly right into your shell. Score for direct hits only.
* Missile silos are tricky. Like the helos, you must hit the missile dead-on in order to score points. If the silo is closed you won't score even if it's a direct hit. I time it so my round releases when the silo doors are shut. By the time the projectile comes down the missile is in full view.
Best score for me so far, level 15, 171,000 points. Have come close here and there but haven't beaten this score so far.
Pass along any other tips if you get them. Have been passing this game around and have been receiving scores here and there.
Have fun.

Thanks Dis, finally beat it thanks to your tips, but I only got 164 000 points. Good score, PI. I've gotten to level 15 with only 145,000, or so, points. Sometimes we're on ... other times ... well ... what I like about it, however, is that it's completely out of the loop. There are a few people on the floor at work who have Game Boys, or whatever you call them now, and they accomplish the same thing. I actually hit 171,300 points and I'm trying to capture the screen by using Gadwin Printscreen 4.3, but I still have to figure that one out. Go Habs Go!!! Cheers.

As a computer geek who has absolutely no experience with anything resembling real artillery (not exactly true, I did pull a field cannon around once in my youth, but I was lucky enough to have a bear of a fellow on the same line as me doing most of the hauling), all I can say is - if you like this, look up a (very old) game called Scorched Earth. Very similar in idea (using NLOS artillery to attack enemy targets) but the targets can move, and you get significantly more interesting ordinance to attack your opponents with.

Geeze, you guys are hot. Well ... good gunners anyway It's hard getting up there as far as scores are concerned unless you get the right screens. I've been up in the top levels where the game has shown me 3/4 missile silos or 3 to 5 helicopters, which are 5,000 points or 4,000 points resepctively. However, I've also had games that vary those numbers as well. Sometimes we get games that will only show us 1 or 2 of each. Still, 176,600 is my top score. I've left the game alone for a while and will go back to it if I'm bored later in the week. Cheers.
