For anyone interested in the NFL.
Packers rolled over Seattle 42-20
Packer runningback Ryan Grant fumbled only once throughout the entire regular season but fumbled, and lost, two fumbles only four minutes into the game. However, Farve told him on the sidelines that he'd be going right back to him and it worked. Grant finished the game with 201 yards rushing. One of the best Snow Bowl games I've seen so far.
NY Giants over Dallas 21-17
A tough Giant defence got to Tony Romo early and often in the 2nd half and that was the difference. Romo continues to fizzle out in the post-season but he still has Jessica Simpson. Terrell Owens poured on the tears at the post-game PC ... not believable TO. The Giants took a pounding as well. They'll be tough but they're going into Lambeau with a weakened defensive secondary.
San Diego over Indiannapolis 28-24
Full marks to the Chargers for taking out the defending Super Bowl champs. They did this despite Payton Manning's 402-yard passing performance. Still Phillip Rivers countered with 264 yards passing of his own. They'll be limping into Gillette Stadium next week with a few injuries of their own.
New England over Jacksonville 31-20
Tom Brady went 26/28 in setting a new NFL record for passing effeciency at 92.9%. And when you have a guy like Laurence Maroney rushing for 122 yards, you have a pretty balanced attack. The Jaguars were game but the Patriots were just too on.
So next week
NY Giants at Green Bay
The Giants probably gave the Patriots their best game of the season and the Packers will have to respect that. The Packer front-five will have give Ryan Grant a few holes to run through. But, their work cut out for them as the Giant defence got to Romo when they wanted.
San Diego at New England.
Not as easy a game as NE thought it would be but they're through. And now with their road block out of the way, the Colts, there shouldn't be too much of a problem advancing.
Go Packers!!!!

RE: Dallas. Lots of callers furious with Coach Phillips for telling the 'boys to take their minds off football on their bye weekend...(e.g. the Romo-Simpson getaway to Cabo, Mexico.)
Even though everybody was back to work on Monday....a lot of fans are saying vacations, getaways, "minds off football", should be saved for the off-season....not during the playoffs.
What do you think, Skilly....you're a 'boys fan.

What do you think, Skilly....you're a 'boys fan. You know, on any other night the Cowboys would have won that game. They had the ball possession but didn't put up enough points. I have a buddy here at work who I forgot was a Cowboys fan. He said the biggest difference in that game was that the Giants were game-ready. On the other side of the coin, the Cowboys played alright but they didn't have that bounce in their step. As my buddy was saying, they were out of tune. The Giants will be battered but tough. What a pass rush. They had their way with Dallas' front-five in the 2nd half. Cheers.

Dallas loses. Indy loses. franko smiles . . . a pretty good weekend except for that other loss I don't want to talk about.
Yes, I'd be very happy with one more Pack win . . . don't expect two, though.
Life gets back to normal next year and the Pats become vincible again.

Yes, I'd be very happy with one more Pack win . . . don't expect two, though. Life gets back to normal next year and the Pats become vincible again. I don't know Franko. The Patriots have been the model franchise over the past few years now. They're a power house this year and and there's no reason to believe they won't be the same next year either. The Packers have turned their franchise around in just two years. From basement-dwellers with no light at the end of the tunnel, to a bonafide Super Bowl contender. I'm hoping the Pack and pull it off. But, they have to get by the Giants first. I think the Pack are favourites but the Giants are going to be tough and motivated. They can give a lot of credit to their defence for taking out the Cowboys. And if Manning gets his act together it could be a long day for Farve and the boys. However, if Green Bay can establish their running game right off the bat it might give the NY defence something else to think about. This is the thing about Green Bay though. They can play like champions one game and bums the next. Which team will show up? Cheers.

What do you think, Skilly....you're a 'boys fan. I am probably the hugest Cowboys fan there is .... and this loss had absolutely nothing to do with the way Tony Romo played. The Cowboys were moving the ball at will ... they scored on 3 out of their 4 first possessions, they had an incredible 20 play 10:30 drive that left the Giants with 48 seconds to score. Which they did. Nothing changed in the second half. The offense continued to do what they wanted, but the receivers continually, time and time again dropped passes. Fasano dropped one for a touchdown that would have given the Cowboys a 14 point lead. Crayton dropped an easy pass in the first half that would have given the Cowboys excellent field possesion and continued that only drive they didnt score on. In the second half Crayton dropped a 3rd and 11 pass that would have been a touchdown to give the Cowboys a 14 point lead. The only mistake Romo made was missing a wide open Owens that once again would have given the Cowboys a double digit lead. The receivers, and especially the "prevent, we can make tackles, and force you to make long drives" defense was the difference. They did not make enough plays on defense. Full credit to the Giants. But why they abandoned the run in the 4th quarter when only trailing by 4 points is beyond me (that is Jason Garrett). The Giants could not stop the Cowboys offense, but sadly the Cowboys defense didnt show up.

Dropped passes, defense not showing up.....could that have been a result of them: a. not taking the Giants seriously? b. not focussed because of Phillips telling them to take their minds off football on their bye weekend. i.e. did that set a tone for their prep week? Just reporting what I'm hearing. Then again, the Habs shouldn't have beaten the Bruins in 1971, either. Upsets happen. Although Bobby Orr said the Bruins may have gone in taking the Habs too lightly.

I like Farve, his good ol boy style and Green Bay's incredible comeback. Rumors place Romo and Simpson vacationing on a beach in Goose Bay with Skilly. Go Skilly GO! The wrong Manning is still in the playoffs, but the Colts don't seem the same as the reigning champions since they were beaten by NE early in the season. San Diego is the closest NFL team to LA, but they don't charge me up. Green Bay may be working out in Goose Bay this week to prepare for the warmer weather in Green Bay by game time. New England is a bunch of cheaters that will do everything necessary to win. I like them. Manning lite is on a roll, but his team isn't ready. Green Bay vs New England, heart with Favre but money on Brady. None of them are the Hab's.............

Rumors place Romo and Simpson vacationing on a beach in Goose Bay with Skilly. Go Skilly GO! She looks even better in person .... but I also have to wait until she applies the ProActiv(R) Solution. Not sure what El ToRo was doing in the next room but he wasn't keeping us up. Hey, this reminds me of my old yahoo pool teams. When I lived in Goose Bay (7 yrs ago) my pool teams were always called "Goose Bay Frozen Tundra". I even named my dog "Tundra". They call Lambau Field "The Frozen Tundra" ... ooohh noooo .. I am a latent Packer fan ...Noooooo!!!! ARGGHHHHH!!!!! ;D Todays Temps: Green Bay, Wisconsin: -6 C (clear)....... Goose Bay, NL: -17C (partly cloudy)

Looks like a gathering of the cheeseheads at the local pub on Sunday. Wings and Moosehead on tap might be the order of the day.
Probably make for a rough Monday morning at work but what can you do?
Cheers.

Looks like Skilly's team did win this year!
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) are the winners of the AOL Hottest Cheerleaders Tournament. To accept the title, the DCC sent us Megan Fox, a four-year veteran and last year's Pro Bowl selection. She questions what Giants fans have against cheerleaders, points out the suspicious timing of the release of the new DCC Barbie and lends emotional support to Terrell Owens.

Third Tyne's a Charm
Just wanted to be first to coin this phrase, that will likely be a headline tomorrow.
Too obvious.
Tyne's two late attempts missed....but his OT field goal puts the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Bummer!
The Giants defence smothered the Packers in the 2nd half and gave their team multiple chances to win.
Al Harris was owned all night and this guy is going to the Pro Bowl. Brandon Jacobs was a horse when he got the ball and Eli Manning was on his game.
Don't want to see Farve end his career on a game-losing pick. Just not right. Was listening to an American sports radio show this morning and I guess the veterans and the rookies all want Farve back next year. I can see why. The Packers are a young, exciting team.
Had a basement full of Packer fans for both games yesterday. Got plenty of beer and pizza down range, so it wasn't a total loss.
Cheers.

Looking back, in hindsight I think the Giants have a better chance at beating the Patriots than the Packers did. Yesterday they were just hungrier and wanting it more.
I'll be tuning in two weeks from now and, unfortunately, the only thing I want to see is the Patriots losing. That's a big 1-80 from how I felt at the beginning of the season.
I like the Giant defence. I like the way Manning is playing and they have a very good, balanced attack going on right now.
I think the Pats know they will have their work cut out for them. Hopefully anyway ...
Cheers.

Gutsy performance by Rivers. Apparently was playing with serious ACL damage.
I don't share the anti Patriot sentiment as most seem to here. I want them to win & I want to see some history. I don't understand how a committment to excellence is seen as arrogance.

Hopefully anyway ... Cheers. As a Packer fan, I believe the same thing. As prepared as McCarthy had this team for most of this year, they were not prepared to do battle against a team like the Giants. He should have had them practice outside at least one day this week. Looking at Favre in the tunnel prior to the game, he looked uncomfortable, just like he looked in the Bears game in December. Manning instead comes into the stadium looking totally relaxed in a fairly light overcoat, no hat on, and gloveless carrying a case. It showed who was really able to shut out the weather conditions and focus on the task at hand. As undisciplined and unfocused as the Packers were yesterday, their chance at beating the Patriots was slim IMO. It would take the exact opposite to beat a team like the Patriots. I've watched the Giants three playoff games this year, as well as the loss to the Patriots. I tell you, I'm impressed. They play with a sense of purpose. I will be cheering for them to win, and to break a few Patriot limbs as well. The Packers are the youngest team in the league, WITH Favre and a 40 year old long snapper. Their future with McCarthy looks extremely bright.
