Any real CFL fans out there? The cynic in me says this trade is a move to prop up the franchise in our largest city. Joseph takes a cut, asks for a raise( deservedly so) & gets shipped to Toronto. tsn.ca/cfl/news_story/?ID=231293&hubname=cfl

Why would the Grey Cup Champions trade their number-1 guy? People out west really like their football. It's a whole different attitude regarding football than it is in the east. They're fanatical about their football in Saskatchewan and I think they had potential for a few more Cups actually. Not so much now though. Cheers.

If the Argonauts and by extension the CFL were to have ANY hopes of competing against the NFL (and that's a big IF) they will have to be top-notch draw. Interesting that they now get the league's best player...

I was shocked to hear this on TSN this morning. The Riders are blaming the Salary Cap for the reason of trading him, but Toronto has to have a similar payroll?

Naw, they keep threatening but never do anything about it. That's the reason they have a new commissioner: the previous one wanted to be serious, but the GMs [who say they have to have a cap] turfed him because of it. As to Joseph, I liken him to Huet: good when he's on his game, but fragile. I doubt very much whether he'll be able to carry the Argos far. let's check back the end of November and see if my prediction holds out

I was listening to Toronto radio this morning. This issue was being discussed & no one disputed it. Doesn't mean that it's true but the sports people on the panel acknowedged it as if it were fact.

I remember Joseph in Ottawa and he was exactly the way you describe. A dynamo one night and a fumbling fool the next. I asked above what might have been the motivation for a Cup championship team to move their top player. Having said that, I tend to buy into BC's theory about keeping football alive in Leafs' Nation. Cheers.
