Conspiracy theorists claim to have provided a lot of 'proof' that suggests 9/11 was deliberately ignored and later supported by the Bush administration, so as to give them an excuse to do whatever they wanted in the Middle East. But, while they make some interesting points here and there, the ones they missed on, they missed on big time. This is where they lost me. However, the way people are (a very general reference, not a reflection on any one group) nowadays, as soon as they hear 'conspiracy' they instantly sink their teeth into it. You can feed them all the bunk you want and they'll eat it up because they want that controversy. I find it amazing that the people who claim Bush is a moron and can't do anything straight are the very same people who claim that he fabricated an elaborate scheme that invoolved HUNDREDS of people.....that killed thousands of people. Yeah...whatever.....

That disgusted me when it happened ...and disgusts me more now. Such history, art, engineering, architecture, culture ....... just ruined for nothing.

I think this was an attack on "anything-not-Taliban" more than an attack on Buddhism. It sort of reminds me of the Kamher Rouge in Cambodia and everything starting from year 0. Total brainwashing, total control. Cheers. Edit: I had time to read the link, HSO. Those responsible for destroying these historical figures said it had more to do with complying to Islamic teachings. But, I suspect the Taliban's interpretations of the Koran are different than most others.

Yeah...whatever..... You know yourself, HA, nowadays we have to investigate all possibilities. But, in the end, people will be people ... or in a lot of ways ... sheep. I remember saying back when 9/11 came down that I felt Bush Jr would use this disaster to substantiate every decision, good or bad, he would make. Well, he did just that in Iraq and it's blown up in his face. And like a lot of people who initially supported that mission based on the bogus intelligence we were fed, I felt betrayed. In fact, I felt like one of those sheep!! I know this sounds condensending but I think that's the way people generally are. We've come a long way technically speaking, but the basic human being hasn't really progressed all that much. * We tend to be easily threatened by things we don't know, * We tend to be easily threatened by people who have different beliefs, and * Then we tend to attack the things we're threatened by (see the Buddhas of Bamyan); the main motivation for Islamic extremists, white supremists and the whole shootin' match. As for Bush, well, he's done a lot to feed those threats IMHO ... as has Bin Laden, as have the Taliban, as have ... Cheers.
