It's at canadiens.com; that's where I saw it. 6'5" at 210 lbs. Wow!
I know he's our fourth pick, but I'd take under-rated, practically not noticed players over those who are overhyped and turn out to be flops.
Big booming defenseman. Can't have to many of those. ;D

What I really like is that he's a RD and that he will play for Cornell in the ECAC next year. I get ECAC games on direct tv and should get a few games of his, but more importantly he is playing for a top notched team, and if their goalie comes back they could be the top team in the ECAC and a shot at the championship.

"Tough times don't last; tough players do" Welcome aboard Ryan! Sounds like this kid has jam, and some size to boot. See you in Hamilton in a few years, big guy.

Here's a couple of tid-bits on "Byrnsie". From www.cornelldailysun.com/articles/8774/Two recruits come from the Nanaimo Clippers, the same team that produced junior Greg Hornby, LeNeveu and Shane Hynes. Byron Bitz, a forward, and Ryan O'Byrne, a defenseman, are big both in terms of size and in skill. They are both listed at 6-4 and are expected draft selections.
"Byron is a big power forward, much like Stephen. I think he'll come in the door probably a little more polished than Stephen as far as his skating ability," Schafer said.
"Ryan O'Byrne is our biggest as far as high is concerned. He's skates extremely well for his size. I think he'll remind a lot of people of Brian McMeekin ['02]," he added.
From Kyle Woodlief, yet again. Other sleepers to watch for: Ryan O'Byrne, Bruno Gervais and Philippe Sydoux. O'Byrne played for Tier II Nanaimo, which is tough to get to even for BCHL scouts. But he's gigantic at 6-5/210 pounds, has decent footwork, and a nice mean streak. Gervais is one of the most skilled offensive, finesse defensemen in the Quebec League, but is not overly big or a great skater. He's just one of those guys who has an innate feel for the game

quote from TT in the Gazoo this morning:
O'Byrne could be the sleeper in this year's draft. He's a 6-foot-5, 210-pound defenceman who's headed to Cornell University in the fall.
"Cornell has a great program and we expect that he'll develop into a very good player," Timmins said. "He has great size and we feel he has a lot of upside. One thing that impresses us is that he's a very good skater and you don't find that in a player his size."
should be interesting to see how he develops!

One thing I was worried about was the fact that he didn't play in any major junior league. But he plans on playing in the NCAA, so had he played any major junior hockey he would not have been eligible to play hockey at Cornell.

6'5 210 wowsers imagine if he develops into a fth or sixth dman behind Komisaurus that'll be 2 huge presenses back there because at 6 5 he's bound to add a little more weight
the bonus is they like his skating ability mmmmmmmmmm big dude with some skating ability maybe someday he'll be Ryan TKO'byrne
NCAA players don't pan out anyhow right Mr Komisarek.

I hope he is still growing and develops into a big guy with reach. Hope he doesn't take up basketball at Cornell.

I was talking to my friend Darren Harbord who was the Clipper's play by play man for the past few years. I asked him about O' Byrne and this is what he had to say.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this kid can do.

Not Locke's size and O'Byrne's scoring touch!)

Scouting Report: Has the size every scout loves, and the physical toughness to not let it go to waste. Moves well for such a towering rearguard. Could be a late-bloomer, and a draft-day steal. Impact: O'Byrne's selection continued a good day at the draft table for the Canadiens. He'll be brought along slowly, but figures to be a big part of the Habs blueline corps--literally. - tsf.waymoresports.thestar.com/thestar/hockey/extras.cgi?dd-e23-t94
