There are different organizational rankings out there... One of them is Hockeys Future. In 2002, they had us fourth, behind 1) Chicago, 2) Pittsburgh and 3) Washington, after us you had 5) Ottawa and 6) Panthers
After this year, who's first now, there are many players I don't know, but I would guess the Sens didn't improve that much, so I leave them out, maybe turnbuckles could give us his insights...
Habs added (1 to 4th round): Kostitsyn, Urquart, Lapierre, O'byrne, Locke, Stewart and later picks...
Chicago added (1 to 4th round): Seabrook, Barinka and later picks...
Washington added (1 to 4th round): Fehr, Werner, Valdix and later picks
Panthers added (1 to 4th round): Horton, A. Stewart, Kreps, Meyer, Lojek, Pemberton.
Of course, this is all based on potential...

With Chicago only having 2 picks in the first four rounds and picking Seabrook that high up and with the contract problems with Ruutu I think they may have fallen down the ladder. I would place Florida in first place as of now, they drafted great players and aquired a decent prospect too. I don't know too much about Washington and Pittsburghs prospects so I cant really comment, but we took a step in the right direction. Would have been nice to draft O'Sullivan and Paetsch in the later rounds, giving us higher ranking prospects with more potential but heavier risks.

the problem is guys like Komo, Hossa, Ward and hopefully Hainsey, Higgins and Perezhogin are Nhlers or will soon be NHLers and that won't give us the chance to have the top system.
but it's no big deal...

I think we should see how our talent pool is based on how every team in the nhl bases they're prospects on. And that's by how good the ahl team does.
Our made it to game 7 in the finals. We were sharing out team with Edm but i believe that the team was made up of about 60% mtl and 40% edm.
So, judging by how our ahl team did......we're looking pretty good.
I know that this was suppose to be about the draft but you can have all the talent in the world and still suck in the NHL. We won't know how we drafted until we see how the players first do in the AHL and then the NHL if they get that far.

I'd say the Panthers moved to 1 or 2 with this draft.

I'd say the Panthers moved to 1 or 2 with this draft. Absolutly! Pittsburg will also remain on top with this draft.

But what really matters is I feel we now have mostly what we need as far as depth goes.
Potential gamebreaker? Check Potential 30 goalscorer? Check and check Little bit o' size up the middle? Check Another big D? Check Goaltending depth? Always had it, now it's loaded to the teets. Big, strong goalscorer...ok, we're still trying to fill the LeClair void.
With Perezhogin, Plecanek, Uquhart, Locke and Kastsitsyn waiting in the wings, things are looking up! Good god, let's deal Juneau, Dacks and MacKay for ONE 8th rounder and get moving right along!

I am with you Matt; Yes! I am still most excited about Komi but Kostitsyn sounds like a great pick up. Is he the gamebreaker we have be missing since... ahhh...since...hmmm... since Mats Naslund?
