Carrot Juice is Murder by the Arrogant Worms Listen up brothers and sisters, come hear my desperate tale. I speak of our friends of nature, trapped in the dirt like a jail.
Vegetables live in oppression, served on our tables each night. This killing of veggies is madness, I say we take up the fight.
Salads are only for murderers, coleslaw's a fascist regime. Don't think that they don't have feelings, just cause a radish can't scream.
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream) Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed) Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories) How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad) Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime) Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go) It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell) Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)
I saw a man eating celery, so I beat him black and blue. If he ever touches a sprout again, I'll bite him clean in two.
I'm a political prisoner, trapped in a windowless cage. Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips by killing five men in a rage
I told the judge when he sentenced me, This is my finest hour, I'd kill those farmers again just to save one more cauliflower
How low as people do we dare to stoop, Making young broccolis bleed in the soup? Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes Let potted plants free, don't mash that potato!
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream) Watching their skins being peeled (fates in the stirfry are sealed) Grated and steamed with no mercy (you fat gormet slob) How do you think that feels? (leave them out in the field) Carrot juice constitutes murder (V8's genocide) Greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves) It's time to stop all this gardening (take up macrame) Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade, is a spade, is a spade, is a spade.....

Save our soles.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animal rights activists have their place for sure....but they can go too far.
Even the extreme pet lover can and will expect you to put your feelings aside for the sake of their dog/cat/rabbit/etc.
Case in point:
This week I was recording a cartoon voice in a Toronto studio. I was doing an episode with another actor. He walked in with his dog (unmuzzled and off-leash) and wondered if it would be okay if the dog came into the actual voice booth (a 10 by 10 room) with us. He assured me that it would be okay....so did a couple of people in the control room, who had seen the dog before.
The problems as I pointed out to them:
1. Our cartroon characters are arch enemies. The script called for lots of fighting, yelling, and screaming.
2. The dog was a pit bull.
Enough said.
How they could even ask me to go into a room with a pit bull and yell at his master is beyond me. But the feelings of the dog were considered first, obviously, or it wouldn't have even been asked. The story I got: "Well, the owner got the dog from a shelter and has moved twice since he got it....so the dog has abandonment issues."
Oh good....all the more reason to give a pit bull the illusion that I'm attacking its master.
Thankfully, it was agreed that the dog would stay in the control room. Otherwise, I would have walked from that session and come back to record another time. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I'm sure that there are those out there who will say not all pit bulls have murderous intent....and certainly I'm not saying they do.....BUT....come on....
And there are those who would say that bringing your dog to such a place of business (and going ga-ga-goo-goo over it at every opportunity) is somewhat unprofessional.

The story I got: "Well, the owner got the dog from a shelter and has moved twice since he got it....so the dog has abandonment issues." I got my dog at a shelter .... and he has abandoment issues too. And frisky issues.... he loves to jump all over people (he is 110 lbs). I'd never let him go free around other people ... not without fair warning. There is a reason some dogs end up in a shelter, and just because you love it to death doesn't mean the last owner did. My dog is squeamish around situations you described ... yelling, hand movements (some people are hand talkers) ... ... you were right to take a stance. Even if it was a poodle and it came from the finest stock, you just never know with animals....

Is it recreational fishing they take issue with? Or all fishing? I don't really understand, but if catching fish en mass in nets is somehow more humane, I think they're making the red line very, very thin.

I'm no expert ... but I would assume that organizations like this take issue with bottom trawling fishing. The nets tear up valuable habitat on the ocean floor.

And ranch farming destroys natural habitat, too. We should all just stop eating meat entirely. That's a solution. I should work for PETA. I wonder if they take issue with fish farming, too? Whatever. I can't take organizations like this seriously.

without reading much of what was said in this thread, and a direct answer to the question: yes i murder fish on a daily basis, i eat sushi 3x week, eat prawn or salmon 1xweek, crab/mussels 1xweek, ok some of those aren't fish. i am trying to avoid the farmed salmon, it can have a good texture, but the flavour is not as good as atlantic or spring salmon, most importantly it just isn't real fish, to me that is. a crappy mobile photo of a dish i shared with my mom last month www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1283451&l=2bed5&id=7166156094 pieces of ebi (raw prawn), 4 deep fried prawn heads (you eat it head and all), 2 pieces unagi, 2 pieces saba (pickeled mackerel) and i believe a pacific roll (smoked salmon, avocado on a california roll, a bc roll or bbq salmon roll as they call it here because they leave about 1/4 inch of salmon on the skin. tastes better than it looks and total cost approx $25. i do really wish that the fishing in international waters, where greed is the primary name of the game, would be somehow controlled by the UN or someone, anyone.

I too am a fan of sushi and have often worshipped at its High Temple; the Tsukiji fish market. Alas the selection of fish in Montreal pales in comparison to Vancouver. Alas it is getting harder and harder to avoid farmed salmon - wild Atlantic salmon is impossible to find unless you fish it yourself.

You sure you don't have gout..... Try BBQing your salmon on a cedar board. Delicious. I put some lemon and spices and dried tomatoes on the top ... and then place it directly on the cedar board, then put the lid of the BBQ down and do not turn the salmon over .... yummy!
