Wow... what a steal (if true as reported) for the Wings... The Penguins couldn't match that??
I apologize Marian, I thought you would be a true mercenary, looking at offers in the $80 million range... instead you passed on the money (sort of) for a shot at a Cup...

I really think he wants to win, then wants to sign his big money deal.
He'll still be the cream of the crop next July, too.

This is setting up as another year of rejection by the UFA pool. Oh well, Hossa has never been the difference maker

I am envious of the fact that the Wings have become the organization to play for? They seem to just let the UFAs come to them and then pay them less money than everyone else. Must be quite the classy enviroment

Detroit is looking scary for next season. They're already a powerhouse, and now they add Hossa to the mix. If they stay clear of injury problems (and they have decent enough organization depth, so it should be doable) they'll be gunning for a repeat next season.

The other question for Detroit is whether the tandem of Osgood and Conklin will be enough. Was Osgood a one-year wonder? Or is it that he has to play "just good enough" because of the team in front of him.

But ... but ... but ... one year???
I'd have to look at next years impending FAs to see where Marian stacks up. It's a pretty bold move on his part. If he has an injury next year that knocks him out long term and puts into question his health, he could be screwing himself.

How many teams in the NHL hasn't he played for?

Hossa a wing and a prayer for Sundin. If Sundin signs with Detroit and Malkin asks to be traded to Detroit only the leafs have a one in a million chance of beating them. As Lloyd said in Dumb and Dummer, "ya mean I've got a chance!".
