Now the Canucks might offer Sundin even more?
And maybe the Ranger door to Sundin has been shut?

Naslund gets a lot for a player who's numbers have been on a sharp decline. Not sure he finds his game in the East, but you never know. Jagr and Shanny are as good as gone now.

Naslund's numbers tanked about the same time as Bert's did in Vancouver. How much will Bertuzzi be asking for, I wonder?

He's not the skater he once was, which has pretty well reduced his whole game. Man, are the Rangers really going nuts. There doesn't seem to be a coherent plan in place, just sign someone, anyone. And the bigger the name, the better.

Naslund's point totals have gone like this the last 5 years and he plays full seasons:
104 84 79 60 55
At 35 I can't see him bringing them up much higher.
And Buffalo loses another UFA. They are becoming the farm team for the rest of the league. If they don't do something, Ryan Miller will leave at the end of the 2009 season.

And the bigger the name, the better. Which year was it when Neil Smith went nuts and signed all of these big-name free agents? 97 or 98 was it? Somewhere around there anyway. Cheers.

Not that it explains it all, but plummeting offensive totals seems to be a trend of Vigneault-coached teams. Look at the first season under Vigneault for the Habs: 235 goals for. Subsequent seasons: 184, 196. Part of that can be explained by the loss of Recchi, Damphousse and Koivu (cancer year) but a one-season drop of 51 goals isn't all talent.

I see your point about AV but his totals have fallen of the cliff - they are half of what they were 5 years ago.
