Lost a high school teacher in that bombing. As Bruce Springsteen sang, "they're still there, he's all gone..."
Convicted Air India bomb-builder Reyat gets bail[/size]
Inderjit Singh Reyat, the only man ever convicted in the Air India bombings, is being released on bail on perjury charges.after a decision by the B.C. Court of Appeal.
Reyat has served 20 years behind bars for two separate convictions related to the June 23, 1985, blast off the coast of Ireland that claimed 331 lives and an explosion at Narita airport in Japan the same day.
Reyat served his entire sentence for those two convictions but remained behind bars facing perjury charges.
The B.C. Supreme Court denied Reyat bail on the accusations that he lied while testifying at the Air India trial, which ended in acquittals of the two other men accused. He appealed that decision.
It's believed the plot against Air India was hatched by militant Sikh extremists in B.C.
Reyat's trial on the perjury charges is scheduled for next January.
