The video doesn't quite paint the entire story (although it is quite uplifting even when the truth comes out). The lion cub was bought from Harrods (they had an exotic animals department at the time) but he had been born in a zoo (I believe I recall reading somewhere that Harrods had rescued it after the zoo went under, but can't find anything to that affect). The 'heroes' of the story (Rendall and Berg) saw the cub there and purchased him from Harrods as a 35 lbs cub (Harrods as reportedly estatic to have sold him, the cub having escaped several times to destroy much property). Within a year the cub was 185 lbs, and still growing so Rendall and Berg made arrangements to have him released to a reserve in Kenya where he would be rehabilitated to the wild. In 1970 they sent him said reserve. By 1974 the reserve manager, George Adamson, reported that Christian and his pride had more or less fully integrated into the wild, rarely returning to the main camp. When Rendall and Berg flew to Keyna, Christian hadn't been seen for nine months, but before the night before the pair arrived he with his lionesses. What followed was the scene above. After that Christian and his pride were never seen in the camp again. Details on Snopes here: www.snopes.com/photos/animals/christian.asp
