Did you ever have one of those days? You know, the type of day when you know everything is going to go against you, and you are going to be as crooked as sin until it is over..... Well today started out as one of those days for me. First, a little preamble background information. My daughter starts kindergarten tomorrow, so my wife and I had to totally rework our entire working schedules. It is becoming painfully obvious that there is no way we can do this half-day kindergarten schedule without 2 vehicles. Until we get two vehicles, my wife will be riding her moutain bike to work at the crack of dawn (no matter the weather) and I will be getting up with the kids and getting them out the door, onto the school bus, and off the daycare. Well today my kids refused to get up. I was as patient as man could be. Finally got them up, 20 minutes behind schedule, and down for breakfast. Then the joy began. Daughter #1 (4yr old): Why are you giving me fruit for breakfast? Me: We are late sweetie, hurry up and eat so we can go. Daughter #1: I am not eating fruit, mommy gives us other things too. Me: What does mommy give you? Daughter #1: Eggos! Me: We are out of syrup. Daughter #1: Pancakes. Me: We are out of syrup. Daughter #1: French Toast. Me: Big Sigh .. we are out of syrup!! Would you like cereal? Daughter #1: I'll have cheerios. So I go and get the Cherrios and she says she wants milk ... I explain to her that if she has milk, please, please, please, please, do not try drinking the milk from the bowl. "Why daddy?" ... because if you do, then your sister will copy you, and I dont have the time this morning... So I give her a bowl of Cherrios, and sure enough Daughter #2 wants cherrios too (apparently yogurt and fruit is a bad breakfast nowadays) ... and she wants milk because her sister has milk. I turn my back (for 3 seconds, yes thats all it was, just to grab my lunch bag) and my oldest says "oh no!!" ... I turn and see my oldest with the bowl to her face, and my youngest with the bowl dumped over her head, face , and clothes ... SERENITY NOW!!!! I clean her up (now 35 minutes late), and get them out the door ... I put our van in drive and go out the driveway and something just doesn't seem right ... I park and get out ... ^%$#@!!!! 2 flat tires!!!!! I ended up getting to work 3 hours late, and I really wanted to go get something that morning on my way to work .... and was sooo PO-ed I couldn't. But now my wife calls me, and god love her ... she called and got me the tickets I wanted. Tickets to see Bob Gainey speak here next week and get his autograph ... Maybe today wont be so bad afterall....

That's quite the morning. Hopefully your day will turn around, Skilly.
I'm finally enjoying a relaxing morning off. I spent the weekend being best man for my friend's wedding. His family is like my own, so between managing all the arrangements for both the Christian and Hindu ceremonies, tearing apart the hotel where he misplaced her wedding ring, and spending time with people I hadn't seen in a long time it was a long weekend where I only got about 8 hours of sleep. A great weekend to be sure, but definitely a tiring one.
Was your weekend at least a good one?
Where is Gainey speaking?

Was your weekend at least a good one? My weekend was awesome. Wife and I had some kid-free time and went out with a few friends and sort of partied like we were dating again ... really good time. And I shot 88 yesterday .... first time breaking 90!! Birdied 3 holes, and started the back nine par-par-birdie-par. He is speaking at The Rooms .... I am not sure on what topic, but I heard he coming to town and signing autographs, so I just wanted to go so bad. Was really ticked that everything that could go wrong, to prevent me from lining up to get tickets, went wrong.... but my wife certainly knows how to make me happy ...

You're an easy man to please, boy.
Ah . . . cleaning up cereal messes . . . being late for work . . . if only life were that simple. CO is dead on.

How are Daddy's little angels this morning? The oldest was excited to go to Kindergarten, until she got there .... apparently she thought we were in the wrong school and wanted us to find the right one. We promised her, her friend who lives next door would be at the same school (he is in grade 1) and since she never saw him, well we had the wrong school.... but she settled down once the teacher started class. I think she is going to love it .. I'm more worried about my youngest. This is her first day in daycare without her sister. I havent heard how she took it yet .... fingers crossed.

believe it or not, someone in Ottawa tried this -- the taxi services complained and it was deemed a bylaw infringment with big fines!

Well the Bob Gainey meet and greet was today. He basically launched the opening of the Rocket Richard cross country travelling exhibit, and the upcoming new book by his friend Darcy on the 100th anniversary of the Habs.
He spoke for about 40 minutes and opened the floor to questions.
Some tidibits:
1) In 2005, Montreal had Benoit Pouliot #1 on their board. He was drafted by Minnesota with the fourth selection. Carey Price was #2 on their board. He said "why do you rank players, if you are not going to follow that list"
2) He had two offers for Huet. Traded him to Washington because he thought they were the lesser threat to Montreal and because he felt he needed to know what kind of asset they had in Price.
3) He spoke with Sundin on Saturday .... he urged Mats to just make a decision.
4) I asked him about the third line center possibilities if Sundin doesnt come here ... asked if SK was Plan B - he responded with "thats classified" and a chuckle.
He told alot of good stories about his playing days. One that stuck was that beer was prevented from being in the Habs dressing room in the 1940s by Selke. When the Habs played the Red Army team in the early 80s (not the 3-3 tie game, the one we won) Gainey requested beer to be brought in the dressing room. It was the first time in over 3o years that beer was in the room. Toe Blake called him the next day and had a one on one chat with him about the history of the team and the old traditions.
All in all it was a good afternoon and I got my picture taken with him.

Glad to hear you had a good time Skilly and thanks for the tidbits. Here's a blog post about Gainey's presentation and the questions asked, Skilly's question is mentioned.

Doesn't seem like BG at all.
