The Leafs really hung Potvin out to dry in that series.
The crazy part of that Kings team is that there are still (15 seasons later.. going on 16) 4 guys playing in the NHL at a pretty good level. Lang, Zhitnik, Blake and Sydor. I suppose Schneider (and Brisebois?) are still in the NHL too from the Habs (zero from the Leafs), but it's been FIFTEEN YEARS!
Far too long without a Cup. Agreed?
That Kings team was remarkably deep in terms of talent. Gretzky, Kurri, Robitaille, Granato.
An aside. What ever happened to Lebeau? Injury? Dude fell off the face of the Earth.

Lebeau was traded to the Ducks in 1993-94 for Ron Tugnutt, played 2 seasons & went to Europe.

It's not the NHL but it's a good gig for a hockey player with a few good years left in him. Not too sure of the perks, but I know of some that were given a decent wage, an apartment and car; all paid for of course. Good go even if it's to experience Europe. I talked to John Tripp (former LA King for a few games) a couple of years back and that is what he was doing. Cheers.

Pretty sure he was traded to the Leafs; can't remember what the return was. Yep; traded to the Leafs. In his only full season with Montreal, dressing for 70 games, DiPietro tallied 13 goals and 20 assists. Those were decent numbers, but not impressive enough to keep the Canadiens from sending him off to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1995. His stay in Toronto was quite short-lived and he found himself toiling in the minors much of the time.
The final NHL stop for DiPietro came in the 1996-97 season when he suited up for six games with the Los Angels Kings. After stops in Phoenix and Cincinnati of the now-defunct IHL, DiPietro picked up and moved to Europe where he continues to play.
On the international stage, DiPietro represented Switzerland at the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2005, 2007 & 2008 World Championships.

You could tell by the Stanley Cup Ring. Imagine....a short-lived NHL career...highlighted by a Stanley Cup. Meanwhile, there are Hall of Famers who've never won the big prize.....Marcel Dionne chief among them. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Gilbert, can flash the 93 ring at him.
