Prank Took 5 days to get through the red tape to set up the call. Unbelievable that she didn't clue in.

She's getting it from everywhere now. Heck, she's even boosted the SNL ratings (or close to it anyway).
Not hard on the eyes I tells ya'.
Cheers.

Prank Took 5 days to get through the red tape to set up the call. Unbelievable that she didn't clue in. Not really. She's in the middle of what is perhaps the biggest undertaking of her life, and she's handed a phone by one of her assistants who says "it's the President of France on the line for you." And then he begins to natter and prattle on about this, that and the other thing. And she mostly just lets him rant because, after all, he's the President of France and she doesn't really feel like causing an international incident in the final days running up to the election by (a) saying anything of substance to the head of a foreign state, (b) correcting said head of foreign state when he mucks up the name of the Prime Minister of Canada, or the "Prime Minister" of Quebec (hell, his accent - which was quite ridiculous and obviously not Parisian in origin - probably made her even less certain about the names) and (c) sounding anything but pleasant and happy to hear from a friendly foreign nation which is offering her their moral support. Sarah Palin has a lot of flaws. All politicians do. But had they made the call to Obama, McCain or Biden the end result would've been a phone call that sounded mostly the same. Except maybe Biden. Then the Masked Avengers might have slain their listenership by letting Joe bore everyone to death with his "mono....tone....and....slow....paced....deliv....ery". Shame on the staffers who got fooled. They're the ones who deserve to be laughed at. After five days of red tape someone should've noticed something was amiss.

Point at whomever you'd like but if after FIVE days of lead-time you and your people can be so easily dooped by something as simplistic as a prank call then you and your people have no bloody business being in the White House. The WHITE HOUSE for heaven's sake!! THESE are the best available people to run the most powerful country on the planet!!! Disgustingly discouraging.

Yeah she's got faults, and yeah she's a poor-at-best candidate, but the pranking and prodding has got to stop. It's not even funny. I'm pretty bitter about this whole election to begin with in regard to all the stupidity, but it's over the top. As said above, this has little to do with Palin herself and everything to do with inept staffers. Here's hoping they don't make it into office regardless of the election's outcome.

Yep...I'm sure some staffers' heads rolled on that one.
TNG makes a solid point.
Palin was handed the phone after assurances that everything was on the up-and-up. And she was basically trying to be diplomatic and not "rock the boat".
We have the luxury of being able to listen after the fact....and it gets more "unbelievable" each time...which is unfair and illogical.
I retract the "unbelievable" comment from my first post.

How much say do you really think she had in the screening of the call. That's why they screen it. So the person for whom the screening is for doesn't have to worry about it. When it gets cleared you hand her the phone and then go. Yes, it should raise questions about her 'people', but it should raise other questions too. How did they slip past the Secret Service screening? These guys are non-partisan. Granted I don't know how much (or how little) intelligence it takes to jump in front of bullets, but there's a lot of parties at fault here and I think drawing conclusions about the appropriateness of a political candidate based on it is a little much.

Not the first to be punked and won't be the last. She's in good company. Overall she handled it well. I'm not sure that if Sarkozy called me I would know if it's really his voice or not. Now if Bob Gainey called me and offered me a two way contract, I would be very tempted but very skeptical.

If I'm the vp candidate for a party (which is essentially window dressing) and I receive a call from any head of state, I'd have to ask "Huh?", what the hell are they calling me for?! Seriously, both she and her staffers have to have egos the size of Mount Rushmore to believe Sarkozy would be calling her. Unless of course, they thought he was asking her for a rendezvous, a dalliance. That I could understand.

Except maybe Biden. Then the Masked Avengers might have slain their listenership by letting Joe bore everyone to death with his "mono....tone....and....slow....paced....deliv....ery". Or McCain .... he is so monotone that when he puts inflection in his voice it comes across as fake ... now if they can just teach him to keep his eyes from moving when he gives a speech I might think he is sincere and not blindly reading some teleprompter...

Looks like the guys who pulled this prank are now minor celebrities - they appeared on a CBS TV show today. www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2008/11/04/mtl-justiciersmasques1104.html#socialcommentsBTW, some of the comments below the story are just idiotic. I'm not sure why but CBC.ca stories on Quebec (and Montreal in particular) seem to bring out some real anti-French sentiment among the posters. Easy to be a moron when you are anonymous I guess.

It's like watching jay leno walking around and questioning man/woman in the street. It's always refreshing to discover there are people more stupid than myself. How this could turn into racist, anti-french is beyond me. It's like saying leno is anti-Italian. To me it's not just the comments made, but also the lack of tolerance and over sensitivity. I have long admired Maurice Richard, Jean Beliveau, and John Ferguson. If one of them has a bad game and Don Cherry calls him a frog or bloke, it doesn't make him a racist. Cherry has as many beautiful Lemieux's as Smiths from the army in Afganistan on his show. There are radicals everywhere that believe blowing up a federal building in Oklahoma or killing a schoolteacher in Iraq will solve the problems of the world. I like Sarah Palin and the piece was funny. I thought she handled the call as well as could be expected under the circumstances. Joe the Prankster?

Avenger: I loved the documentary on your life by Hustler, Nailin' Palin.
Palin: Oh good, thank you, yes.
Avenger: That was really edgy.
If anything can be so frighteningly sad, and hysterically funny at the same time, this is it!!

Not related to the prank call, but related to Palin: latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/11/what-sarah-pali.htmlComing from Fox's beat-writer on the Republican campaign, I don't know what to think. On one hand, well, I can't say it. On the other hand, maybe some more fiscally conservative Republicans are trying to throw her under the bus so she doesn't run in 2012.

Biden shot off his mouth to anyone within earshot before Obama muzzled him. Obama repeatedly said he was a Muslim when he meant to say he wasn't. McCain confused his geography and facts on the bridge to nowhere and plane on eBay. When you have 1,000 reporters following you for weeks and 20,000 researchers checking facts, and you're putting in 20 hour days flying 15,000 miles a week anybody will make mistakes. (except for you and me of course, and I'm not too sure about you)

Obama regularly attends a Christian church, so he's branded a Moslem. McCain almost never goes to church, so he's deemed a Christian.
