Flyers trade Downie, Eminger & a 4th for Matt Carle & 3rd Round Pick
The Flyers strengthen their ailing defense, sending Steve Downie and Steve Eminger to Tampa Bay for 24-year-old defenseman Matt Carle.
Getting hard to see the direction the way that Tampa Bay wants. Trade Brad Richards to Dallas to make some cap space for resign Dan Boyle. Resign Dan Boyle and a month later trade him to san jose for matt carle. And now trade matt carle to philly....

Seems I take lessons from the Flyers . . . The new owners are developers. They develop real estate into homes that people buy and then they run as far and fast as they can. How that translates into running a hockey team, I dunno. Did they get a 10 year warranty from the previous owners? Oh, wait, it's an existing team, not a new one. No warranty. The plumbing is leaking. |

FWIW I heard McGuire today on the FAN590 in Toronto. He wasn't surprised - he described Carle as overrated.

While I like McGuire he has termnal foot-in-mouth disease.
On the game the other night he commented that Pittsburgh were boys playing against men [versus Detroit]. Wonder what he said after Pittsburgh came back to win?

FWIW I heard McGuire today on the FAN590 in Toronto. He wasn't surprised - he described Carle as overrated. I think McGuire is overrated. He's the NHL equivalent of Mel Kiper Jr. You can't deny his knowledge of prospects and very young players, but when it comes to actual hockey.. well, there was a reason he never got another job. |
