Courtesy Tattac:
Buturlin's had three goals during this preseason. He also had an assist in the first game of the Lada Cup (vs. the Khimik). This tournament is not over yet. The organizers of the Cup of Bashkortostan President named him the best forward of the tournament.
Korneev is called up to the national junior team that will take part in a tournament from August 29 to September 1 in Tyumen. He plays on the 3rd-4th pair in the Ak Bars. Now he is in Slovakia where the team has a training camp, it will play 2 games there (friendlies) and take part in the Tatra Cup tournament.
Perezhogin has sort of disappeared after he signed with the Canadiens. No news about him.

Thanks again.
The example of Ward emerging so late shows that not ALL hope is lost for a guy like Buturlin.

Thanks Bozo and Tattac, good info.
I have always been a fan of the forgotten and underdogs, and think Buturlin still has a chance. He only turns 22 next month, so still has lots of good hockey left in him. He is also said to not shy away from the physical game, which is another nice bonus. If he can carry over his pre-season success into the regular season, he might get back on the radar screen again. I read in previous articles/posts that he turned down a contract when he was just 19, so I am sure he would take a whole different approach now with another chance to see the NHL and with the slow and steady rapport that the Habs are starting to develop with good, young, talented Russian (and Belorussian) players.
Korneev will get some good exposure on that Russian U-20 team at this tourney and again at the WJC over the holidays. He is also getting good ice time on the second pairing on a RSL team, which is great news for a 19 year old. He still has some beefing up to do to be able to face the more physical play in North America, but he is steadily developing, which is what you want to see in a young prospect.

Mr B, I assume this was what I sent you that was a bad link, as the poster said Buturlin was named top forward. He did the same thing last preseason, and had a strong season, so hopefully this is a good start, cause he wont have Grigerenko (I never spell it right) on his line, so it will be intersting to see how he reacts. Korneev from what I was told is already named to the U-20 team, but I may have misunderstood. AK Bars has a good defense, so ice time will be limited for him. Rangers prospect Tytin (dont feel like looking up how to spell it) is on that team as well.

Courtesy Tattac: Perezhogin has sort of disappeared after he signed with the Canadiens. No news about him. I think this is to be expected. It was mentioned on this site some time ago that he is scheduled for our rookie camp (Sept 3rd) and training camp. We are expecting him to play with the Canadiens or the Bulldogs this season. Would any Russian team want him around if they know he won't play for them? Expect to hear of him on the 3rd.
