This pretty much made Jim Rome.
I remember seeing it years back.
Cheers.

How many of us would like to come face-to-face with and criticize NHLers who annoy us?
I did it, indirectly....by publicly slamming the Leafs.
I had the opportunity to perform in front of the Kitchener Rangers Alumni back in the late 90s. Don Luce was in attendance, and at the time he was the Head of Player Development for Buffalo.
Here's what I said, "Don Luce is here. (obligatory applause). You know, he's done such a great job of player development and scouting for the Sabres, that Toronto's thinking about getting a scouting department too." (big laugh)
Denis Dupere, ex-Kitchener Ranger, ex-Leaf, came up to me after the show....put me in a headlock and said, "Makin' fun of the Leafs, eh?". I couldn't move...he was joking, but it was like a vise-grip. Alpha-male all the way.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On another occasion, I was performing at a sports' dinner. Gerry Cheevers was the guest speaker. They wanted me to introduce the evening, before the dinner started. I went up to the mic (Cheevers seated at the head table, directly to my left)....and during my welcome, I mentioned that I was very excited that Gerry Cheevers was there...Stanley Cup champion, Hall of Famer.....(big applause as he acknowledged the crowd).
I then made the natural segue into a Don Cherry impression, which wasn't derogatory by any means. The crowd loved it. I looked over at Cheevers...as stone-faced as you can get. People came up to me afterwards and said, "Cheevers didn't care much for your Don Cherry, did he? In fact, he didn't laugh at anything you said."
Alpha males don't like sharing the spotlight at all.
