"He has no interest in hearing talk that the AHL is where his immediate future lies, or that he’ll be coming to Montreal in the fall merely as a tourist." Well, he better improve on his consistency or else he will be looking in from the outside at the goalie tandem of Damphousse and Fichaud, forget Theo and Garon. If management was so confident in his abilities to gain a regular spot on the Hamilton line-up, I am sure they would not have gone out and acquired JF Damphousse. I wish him luck, but am realistic enough to think he is fairly well down the depth chart.

I like Michaud, but I'm wondering about Damphousse. Is there a reason why he hasn't succeeded on other teams. You could say "sure, because the other teams had super goalies (Brodeur, Giguere)". But d'on't we have one too?

He has talent, hit a rough patch (I would guess a confidence issue regarding his future), and was stalled behind guys who had a leg up. If he shines in Hamilton his stock rises again. Théo-Garon-Damphousse-Fichaud-Michaud-Puurula-(Tarasov) is some pretty good depth. There are, and will be, some tradeable assets there.

Goalie depth and trade bait, good move for a what was probably a relatively cheap FA signing. Damphousse and Fichaud should be a really solid combo in Hamilton. If either falter, Michaud is ready to pounce.
