Oilers trade Garon As per TSN. Garon to Pens for Sabourin, Ryan Stone and a pick. Interesting deal. The pick was a fourth-round pick in 2011. Stone is a interesting pick up. Former 2nd rounder never really developed his offensive game but he does bring energy and a little nastiness. Similar to Begin IMO. www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=263571&lid=headline&lpos=secStory_main

Weird deal for the Oil. They say it deals with their goaltending situation, but they get another goalie back...although he is Springfield bound on waivers for sure. I would have expected more for one of their three goalies than this deal.
I guess they will finally only have two goalies on the roster once they send Sabourin down to the AHL. Over to Old Man Rollie and young JDD. Not too sure this is what fans were looking for to vault them into playoff contention in that big battle going on now around 8th in the west. Oh well...I guess the whining in this city won't stop anytime soon now!!

Comes after a strong performance by Garon too.

Weird deal in general. Are the Penguins that desperate for a goaltender? Why not make a pitch for Khabibulin?

I thought of it as being pretty good deal for both teams.
From the Pens point of veiw, Garon is an upgrade for a team that has been struggling in net all season. With their talent they should go deep into the playoffs and I would be more confortable with Garon as my insurance compared to Sabourin. From the Oilers point of veiw they get some assets for a pending UFA and gets more games for a young Jeff Deslauriers who has better numbers to Garon in fewer games.

haha What's this say about the confidence they have in Fleury? They just traded for a borderline starter/excellent backup.

Rumors as per Sportsnet's Nick Kyproes; are there's more to this trade as Saborin was asked to stay in Pittsburgh til a deal with the Islanders can be worked out. The Islanders just signed Dubielewicz but he was clamed By Columbus on re-entery waivers.
