They pick up Gerber & shut down Toskala for the rest of the season.
I find this injury thing with Toskala a little fishy, after all he stopped 50 shots last night.
But I guess Gerber can't be much worse than Toskala has been for most of the season.

Pretty much, yes. The Leafs want to lose, and by shutting down Toskala, and trading Moore and Antropov lets them keep trying to win, but with less ability to do so.
Serves both Wilson and Burke's objectives.

Serves both Wilson and Burke's objectives. Heard on the FAN590 that Burke offered Moore 3 years/5.1 million & was turned down. Seems fair to me for someone like that.

Moore reportedly wants $2M, and I think he'll end up getting it elsewhere. He's pretty versatile and can play special teams. Someone will ante up.

The Laffs unloaded Antropov and Moore and got 2 2nd rounders. Ya they are tanking it. But of course TSN will say Burke made some bold moves.

Burrows got $8 mil for 4 years and he's a better player than Moore.
but he also gave a hometown discount.

smart move by the laffs, they were fading into the #8-9 draft pick area, they need to drop into 6th or higher. i believe the 5th pick has a chance, no matter how small of winning the lotto and first pick.

They are both UFA's & Burke wanted to replenish picks. I don't think it's as high as he hoped but he is probably satisfied.

It looks as if Tank Nation will be happy.
Don't count on the remaining roster to stop working hard, though. I hate the Leafs....but this edition's work ethic impresses me.

They were moving out of the bottom five into never-never land between the bottom and the playoff teams. This late in the season, it sure smells like a tank. TSN loves the sound of Burkie's voice, almost as much as he does, so they are drinking the kool-aid.
What else do they have to talk about after 10 hours of coverage on a day where only about two of those trades were really news worthy on the remaining 364 days of the year.
He has all those picks to work with this summer, and a whole bunch of old goalies. Hardly a home run.

after Bob's lack of moves and after last night's lack of effort, perhaps the question is "are the Canadiens unofficially tanking?"

Sad to say if our team played as hard as the Laffs we'd be contenders is it coaching ....you tell me?Look at there roster even before the deals?..a ten point difference with half the talent if Toskala wasn't a stiff? HFTO

That 10 points is attributable entirely to the difference in goaltending. Then you compare the rest of their talent to our talent and what conclusion can you come to?

unfortunately the Leafs still have the same scouting staff finding their "gems". they aren't the Canucks, but they aren't timmins or the red wings staff either. i don't expect too much to come from their boatload of picks for this upcoming draft. i'll bet burke deals a few of them for players pre-draft as well.
