I wouldn't put too much stock on what Hockey's Future says in regards to prospect ratings. They don't use any professional scouts when putting together their ratings. In fact, IIRC, their ratings are compiled by their moderators and/or individual team writers ( none of whom are professional journalists or scouts, I believe.) I do visit their site regularly, simply because there are many high quality, knowledgeable posters, some of whom are true pros (Bob MacKenzie is a poster.) I enjoy the site, simply because it is the best on line source for getting info on prospects. Bob McKenzie posts on HF?

Once in a blue moon if I recall, and it's usually in response to someone who's taken a stance against his opinion specifically or attacking the credibility of what he reports. I don't do HF anymore, so I don't know if that's changed.

"Markov is good but not $5 million good"
That made me laugh. Who *is* $5 million good, then?

HF's rankings value potential much higher than actual ability. So when a guy is drafted in the 1st round he immediately winds up at or near the top of a team's prospect lists. A lot of the time, they're pretty much ranked by draft order. Chipchura was a mainstay at the top of the Habs prospect list for a couple years, despite not really showing much after being drafted.

"Markov is good but not $5 million good" That made me laugh. Who *is* $5 million good, then? Markov looks good playing for the Hab's. He is playing besides O'bryne, Hamrlik, Breezeby, Komisarek and lil boullion. I might look good compared to those guys. How would he look playing for Detroit or San Jose? I'm not saying Markov isn't good. He isn't larry Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe, Rod langway, Doug Harvey, Tom Johnson. Josh Gorges +12. Roman hamrlik +4 Mathieu Dandenault +7 Markov -2 Markov is not a hitter or someone that clears the slot. He can skate and pass. Overpaid for what he brings to the team but still the best we have. Long term I see Subban and Weber outscoring him.
