Too bad, I would have liked to have seen him with Hamilton this season. Oh well.

The Hamilton blueline was getting very, very crowded with the Tampa addition of Holmqvist and the demotion of Traverse and Dykhuis, and a future assignment of one of Hainsey, Bouillon or Komo. With Archer, Shasby and Beauchy all wanting good ice time, I just didn't see any room for MacLellan, and he would be far better served playing lots of ice time as a leader in PEI than the occassional ice time in Hamilton. Still hope they sign him for depth, as the reports of his performance in rookie camp were very good.

He just saw him 2 mintues before we spoke, but he didn't hear anything. He said he thought MacLellan would be in Hamilton all year.

No contract for MacLellan. He's a UFA still. He left Hamilton on his own.

I was hoping Hamilton would give him a contract. He was very impressive at the rookie tournament, he seemed like a less talented Komisarek but with more of a mean streak to him. With our lack of RD prospects, it would have been nice to add one to the list, hopefully he isnt picked up by anyone else.

From the PEI Rockets website: "I was disappointed to be released by Hamilton. It wasn't my own decision but I am glad to be here." MacLellan, who stayed with the Bulldogs a month longer than he thought he would, said he is hoping to add even more stability to an already strong blueline brigade. Can Montreal still sign this guy and have him play in PEI It sounds like he showed very well (an extra month in Hamilton) despite being the youngest d-man in camp. How good will he be with another year in PEI and then a couple in Hamilton?

They can sign him and let him in PEI, but it doesn't sound like they are going to. It would be interesting to know what the club feels his shortcomings might be. He certainly as youth/size/physical play on his side. And he seemed to play well during camp. If it is budget limitations, I would be all for sacraficing a bit of the present in Hamilton and moving Traverse or Dykhuis in favour of MacLellan. But if he is projected to be nothing more than a big, slow player that is another thing. The whole MacLellan story is interesting and playing in PEI, the Habs brass will be getting a long look at him while they are evaluating Lapierre, Urquart and Lambert. I doubt that Bonneau needs much evaluating. I guess I still have hopes that he is a diamond in the rough and that the Habs can snare him.
